Diesel Mechanic Evening Lead

As a Mechanic at GFL, you will:

- Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on a diverse fleet of diesel-powered vehicles and equipment

- Diagnose and troubleshoot engines, electrical systems, hydraulics, air brakes, and emissions systems

- Conduct DOT inspections and ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards

- Utilize diagnostic software and tools to efficiently identify and resolve issues

- Maintain accurate service records and communicate repair needs clearly

- Work closely with operations and leadership to minimize downtime and maximize fleet reliability

- Follow all safety policies, procedures, and best practices

Mechanic Levels Explained

Mechanic C (Entry–Intermediate)

- Performs routine PMs and basic repairs

- Assists senior mechanics with complex diagnostics

- Growing skills in diesel systems, hydraulics, and electrical components

Mechanic B (Experienced)

- Independently diagnoses and repairs most vehicle systems

- Strong working knowledge of diesel engines, air brakes, and electrical systems

- Mentors junior mechanics and supports shop efficiency

Mechanic A (Master Technician)

- Expert-level diagnostics and complex repairs

- Leads major overhauls and advanced troubleshooting

- Acts as a technical resource and mentor for the shop

- Helps drive safety, quality, and continuous improvement

# What We’re Looking For

- Hands-on experience as a Diesel Mechanic (level based on skill and experience)

- Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, and air brakes

- Ability to read and interpret diagnostic data and service manuals

- Commitment to safety, quality workmanship, and teamwork

- Valid driver’s license (CDL preferred or willingness to obtain, depending on location)

- ASE certifications are a plus (and supported by GFL!)
