- Annual salary range: $60,000 - $80,000; our business professional roles follow internal compensation guidelines and the pay band will generally be based years of experience and scope of work

Overview:
As a Pipeline Damage Prevention Specialist, you will play a key role in safeguarding Suncor’s pipeline assets and ensuring the integrity of our operations. You’ll be responsible for maintaining the pipeline right-of-way (ROW), responding to 811 One-Call notifications, and overseeing all locate activities using electronic field locators. This role ensures safe, compliant excavation near pipeline systems by clearing locate tickets, performing accurate line locates, patrolling the ROW, managing crossing agreements, and serving as Suncor’s field representative with contractors, landowners, and utilities.
Minimum Requirements:
- A High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)
- 5 years relevant work experience related to locating
- A valid driver’s license and a clean driving record
- Working knowledge of MS Office software, specifically Excel, Word, and Outlook
- Must be able to work outdoors in all types of weather conditions
- Must be able to walk, bend, and lift up to 75 pounds
- Respond to and manage all 811 One-Call notifications by accurately locating pipelines, coordinating with excavators and stakeholders, enforcing safe-dig regulations, and documenting all locate activities and records within KorWeb and internal systems.
- Conduct routine ground and aerial patrols to inspect and document ROW conditions, identify hazards or encroachments, coordinate corrective actions, and maintain signage, access, and vegetation control for safe and compliant pipeline operations.
- Use advanced locating equipment to accurately mark pipeline centerlines and depths, verify alignment with engineering and GPS data, support integrity and excavation activities, and ensure all markings meet accuracy, regulatory, and documentation standards.
- Represent Suncor in crossing agreement activities by reviewing proposed work, marking and monitoring pipeline locations, participating in pre-construction meetings, and ensuring third-party contractors follow all safety, engineering, and ROW protection requirements.
- Serve as the on-site point of contact for landowners, tenants, utilities, and officials by communicating pipeline boundaries, restrictions, and safe access requirements, and promoting damage prevention through public awareness outreach.
- Document inspections, encroachments, hazards, and field activities.
- Report and respond to hazardous conditions, provide pipeline locating support during emergencies, participate in drills and safety training.
- You will work out of our Fort Lupton Station located at 13172 Weld County Road 20.
- The shift schedule is a Monday to Friday.
- You will be required to perform some heavy lifting with the ability to perform in a variety of different environments both indoor and outdoors.
