Your Next Challenge

Reporting to the Communications Lead, you will be part of the Communications Department. You will play a strategic role in shaping the Nunavut Division’s positioning and reputation, defining the division’s positioning and guidelines, set annual alignments, and ensure the right key messages are delivered to internal stakeholders. You will stay informed about activities, upcoming projects, and stakeholder discussions, ensuring that key messages remain current and relevant. You will ensure that the goals and objectives are achieved while promoting and respecting Agnico Eagle’s values, Health & Safety Code of Conduct and the environment.

Public Affairs

- In partnership with the Superintendent, Public Affairs, you will determine the Nunavut Division’s positioning and guidelines to establish annual alignments and key messages for internal stakeholders.

- Collaborate closely with Public Affairs Directors and the Social Affairs Team to monitor activities, upcoming projects, and stakeholder discussions, updating key messages as needed.

- Develop and maintain strategic communication plans to support divisional priorities and reputation objectives.

- Prepare briefing notes for conferences and events attended by senior leadership.

- Contribute to maintain and leverage a centralized stakeholder engagement tool to ensure consistent messaging and proactive outreach.

- Coach executives for interviews and public forums; coordinate logistics and follow‑through.

- Own and optimize the stakeholder mapping tool, ensuring it remains a strategic asset for engagement.

- Update the mapping and review stakeholder engagement plan priorities each quarter to reflect evolving needs and opportunities.


Media Relations

- Update the media list, draft media bulletins, distribute and follow up with journalists, and coordinate internal follow-ups to amplify coverage (e.g., Facebook post, intranet update).

- Monitor coverage, and dissemination of messages; provide information to management and recommend corrections as necessary.

- Develop scenarios for potential issues, including crisis situations, and ensure readiness for rapid response.

- Support leadership and technical experts in preparing for media interviews (print, audio, and video), ensuring clarity and consistency in messaging.

- Build and maintain strong relationships with local and regional media and manage incoming media requests and outreach initiatives.

- Identify and develop story opportunities; prepare media kits and pitches; coordinate interviews with management; and conduct media monitoring and analysis.

- Other related duties as assigned.


What You Need To Succeed

- Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related field.

- 8–10 years of experience in public affairs, media relations, or a related field, with a proven ability to manage strategic initiatives.

- Strong writing and editing skills, with experience preparing briefing materials and media content.

- Demonstrated ability to manage media relations and stakeholder engagement in complex environments.

- Deeply engaged with news and current affairs, with a strong instinct for identifying emerging stories and trends that may influence the organization’s reputation or visibility.

- Demonstrate the ability to spot timely opportunities for strategic response or amplification.

- Ability to shape and pitch stories in a way that captures media interest and drives coverage across relevant outlets.

- Knowledge of the French language and/or Inuktitut language is considered an asset.

Note that the official working language at our Nunavut operations is English.

Your Work Schedule

- Schedule: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday at our Mirabel Office.

- Travel to sites and communities once a month, or as needed.
