Are you passionate about building meaningful relationships, driving social responsibility, and leading with integrity? Highland Valley Copper is seeking a dedicated Social Responsibility Coordinator. You’ll ensure regulatory compliance, coordinate community feedback mechanisms, and support social transition and closure planning. Additionally, you will play a crucial role in fostering strong, trust-based relationships with Indigenous Governments and Organizations by demonstrating cultural sensitivity and respect for Indigenous traditions, values, and protocols. The ideal candidate is driven by a strong internal motivation to make a difference, with a passion for continuous learning and improvement.

Key Responsibilities

- Champion a culture of safety by adhering to and promoting safety and environmental standards.

- Lead social performance and compliance efforts, ensuring alignment with Teck’s standards and regulatory requirements.

- Maintain and update internal procedures and the Social Risk and Impacts Register, including mitigation planning.

- Support internal and external audits, and ensure accurate documentation and reporting.

- Coordinate and manage community feedback mechanisms and social performance indicators.

- Facilitate meetings, including agenda setting, material preparation, and action tracking.

- Prepare data-driven reports to support site’s understanding and management of social risks, opportunities, and emerging issues.

- Collaborate with the Community Relations team to fulfill commitments and support public relations initiatives and engagement activities such as site tours and open houses.

- Contribute to social transition and legacy development by integrating social considerations into closure planning.

- Support the coordination and logistical aspects of delivering Indigenous Cultural Awareness training to all employees, including scheduling, communication and resource management.


Qualifications

Education & Experience

- Bachelor’s degree in Planning, Social Sciences, Indigenous Studies, Public Policy, or a related field.

- Progressive experience in social performance, social development, Indigenous relations, community engagement, project management or related field.

- Proven experience working respectfully with Indigenous Governments and Organizations in Canada.

- Strong knowledge of social risk management, regulatory frameworks, and corporate social responsibility.

- Experience with document control measures and maintaining compliance documentation. Previous experience supporting audits would be an asset.

- Demonstrated leadership in cross-functional initiatives and stakeholder engagement.

- Excellent communication, facilitation, and relationship-building skills. Project management experience; CAPM or PMP certification is an asset.

- Experience with GIS, data visualization, and public engagement events is an asset.

- Experience engaging with the public and responding to community concerns.

- Experience with social transition, legacy or closure planning would be considered an asset.

- Valid driver’s license.

Salary Range: CAD $83,000 - $103,000 per year

The actual base salary offered is determined based on the successful candidate’s relevant experience, skills, and competencies and considers internal equity.
