The open-pit gold mine is a joint venture between IAMGOLD and Sumitomo Metal Mining Co. Ltd. and is operated by IAMGOLD. We are located near Gogama, Ontario, with access to stable infrastructure and strong connections with our local communities.

MILL OPERATIONS COORDINATOR
The Mill Operations Coordinator supports mill regulatory governance and compliance to ensure safe, productive, responsible, and efficient mill operations. This includes coordination of lock out tag out governance, confined space governance, hot work permitting, permitting for shutdowns and projects, data integrity for reporting and more.
Key Responsibilities
Area 1:
Coordination of mill regulatory compliance.
•Develop and maintain comprehensive lock out, tag out (LOTO), confined space entry, and hot work permit procedures tailored to the specific needs and layout of the mill facility.
•Stay updated on all relevant provincial and federal regulations pertaining to LOTO, confined space entry and other mill permitting matters.
•Interpret regulatory requirements and translate them into actionable protocols and procedures for mill operations.
•Conduct regular audits and inspections to ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
•Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrated protocols into daily operations seamlessly.
•Maintain accurate records, ensure documentation is up-to-date and easily accessible for regulatory inspections and internal audits (Conformit)
•Generate reports on performance metrics and trends to track progress and identify areas for improvement.
•Develop, maintain and update LOTO sheets, confined space documentation / permits, and hot work documentation / permits.
•Manage regulatory compliance during planned shutdowns.
•Manage inventory of LOTO equipment (boxes, locks, devices, etc…).
•Maintain log of open hot work, confined space, and LOTO permits ongoing in the mill.
•Maintain register of gas detectors and ensure that they are calibrated and bumped correctly.
•Assist with confined space determinations and maintain confined space register
Area 2:
Operational Excellence.
•Assist, support and lead mill related health and safety initiatives.
•Be pro-active and solution driven and implement operational improvements.
•Commit to continuous learning and improvement.
•Participate in mill continuous improvement initiatives.
•Provide feedback and suggestions for improving efficiency of Lockouts and shutdown planning. Complete all other related work.
Area 3:
Work collaboratively with others to deliver operational reliability.
•Coordinate with other team members on site to meet operational deliverables.
•Help mentor and train new team members on permitting process and LOTO.
•Communicate clearly and effectively using the tools provided.
•Ensure any deficiencies are communicated to the appropriate team members for follow up.
•Participate in multi-disciplinary teams to deliver on our commitment to our team, our communities, the environment, and our shareholders.
•Participates in the morning safety huddles.
•Ensure shift cross over logs are accurate and complete.
•Participate in mill maintenance planning meetings to ensure permitting needs are met
Qualifications Minimum Requirements and Nice To Haves
minimum qualifications, formal education, certifications or equivalents
•College diploma or university degree in a related field.
•Red Seal Electrician considered an asset.
•Ministry Supervisor Training considered an asset.
Work experience - Nature & Length
•A minimum of 8 years of related work experience
•5 years or more of technical and mechanical experience is highly desirable, but not essential.
Additional qualifications - Competency requirements
•Previous exposure to contractor management in a mill is highly desirable, but not essential.
•Digital literacy and experience with maintenance management systems (Oracle), is desirable, but not essential.
•Knowledge and experience in a gold milling environment is highly desirable.
•Ability to make effective, intuitive decisions under pressure.
•Demonstrated ability to engage and empower multi-disciplinary teams.
•Proven communication skills, both verbal, written and non-verbal.
•Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office.
•Computer proficiency in Conformit LOTO management system
•Self-motivated individual who is driven to find solutions and strive for continuous improvement in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
