The Controller will play a crucial role in overseeing the financial operations of our organization, ensuring accuracy in financial reporting, and maintaining compliance with accounting standards. This position requires a strong background in financial analysis, management, and technical accounting. The ideal candidate will possess excellent leadership skills and the ability to work collaboratively across departments.
Responsibilities
•Oversee the preparation and analysis of financial reports, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting principles.
•Manage the budgeting process, including forecasting and variance analysis.
•Conduct account reconciliations and ensure timely resolution of discrepancies.
•Supervise the general ledger reconciliation process to maintain accurate financial records.
•Provide insights on financial concepts to support strategic decision-making.
•Lead financial analysis initiatives to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
•Collaborate with external auditors during audits and ensure adherence to public accounting standards.
•Prepare detailed financial report writing for management review and stakeholder communication.
•Mentor and develop finance team members to enhance their skills and performance.
Qualifications
•Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or equivalent certification preferred.
•7+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience, including 3+ years in a Controller or similar leadership role,
•Proven experience in financial management, including budgeting and forecasting,
•Industry experience in fuel, energy, or a closely related sector strongly preferred,
•Strong knowledge of financial concepts, account reconciliation, and technical accounting practices.
•Proficiency in general ledger reconciliation processes.
•Experience in public accounting is highly desirable.
•Exceptional analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data.
•Excellent written and verbal communication skills for effective report writing and presentations.
•Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite, Sage)
•Must have expert Microsoft Excel skills
•Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
