About the Role
We’re looking for an experienced and driven Controller to join our team in Calgary. Reporting directly to the CFO, you will play a key role in overseeing financial operations, ensuring compliance with tax and regulatory requirements, managing financial reporting, and supporting strategic decision-making. Key Responsibilities
Financial Reporting & Oversight
•Prepare consolidated and non-consolidated financial statements and monthly reporting packages.
Budgeting, Forecasting & Analysis
•Lead the annual budgeting process and financial forecasting.
•Analyze financial performance and provide variance analysis and corrective recommendations.
•Monitor cash flow, treasury, and banking operations to maintain financial health.
Leadership & Collaboration
•Supervise and mentor a team of accounting professionals.
•Foster a collaborative, high-performance finance team culture.
•Work cross-functionally with other departments to streamline processes and improve decision-making.
Continuous Improvement & Strategy
•Identify opportunities for cost savings and operational improvements.
•Implement and optimize financial systems, tools, and internal controls.
•Support capital investment analysis, pricing strategies, and contract evaluations.
•Manage internal and external audits, including preparation of audited financial statements.
•Ensure compliance with Canadian and U.S. financial regulations, tax laws, and internal controls.
•Oversee regulatory filings for corporate, Canadian, U.S., and international operations.
What We’re Looking For
•Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation (required).
•5+ years of progressive experience in accounting or finance roles, ideally in a mid-to-large size organization.
•Experience supervising and developing teams.
•Strong understanding of Canadian & U.S. tax laws and GAAP/IFRS.
•Proficiency in Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, macros); ERP experience is an asset.
•Background in industrial, manufacturing, or plant settings is a strong advantage.
•Ability to communicate complex financial data to both finance and non-finance stakeholders.
•Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
•Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate, and coach others.
