Controller
W. Silver Recycling, Inc., is one of the nation's leading metals recyclers, with a presence covering the Southwest United States and Mexico. W. Silver Recycling has been operating for over 100 years servicing the unique recycling by-product needs of manufacturers in the southwest United States and Mexico.
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Controller to oversee all aspects of our company's financial management, including corporate accounting, regulatory and financial reporting, budget and forecasts preparation, as well as development of internal control policies and procedures. The Controller will also be responsible for financial risk management. This is a critical leadership role, and the successful candidate will be a key player in the financial health and strategic direction of the company.
General Duties & Responsibilities but not limited to:
•Manage all accounting operations including Billing, A/R, A/P, GL and Counsel, Cost Accounting, Inventory Accounting, and Revenue Recognition.
•Coordinate and direct the preparation of the budget and financial forecasts and report variances.
•Prepare and publish timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
•Ensure quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting.
•Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls.
•Manage and comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings.
•Coordinate the provision of information to external auditors for the annual audit.
•Provide financial analysis and reports to support management decision-making.
•Manage and mentor the accounting team, fostering a collaborative and high-performing environment.
•Oversee cash flow planning and ensure availability of funds as needed.
•Implement and maintain financial software and systems to improve efficiency.
•Stay current with accounting pronouncements, regulations, and industry best practices.
Required Qualifications:
•Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
•CPA (Certified Public Accountant) designation highly preferred.
•Minimum of 10 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 5 years in a supervisory or management role.
•Thorough knowledge of U.S. GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles).
•Strong experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year-end close process.
•Proficiency in accounting software
•Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
•Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
•Strong leadership and team management abilities.
•Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
•Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
•Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
•Master's degree in Accounting or MBA.
•Public accounting experience is a plus.
•Experience with financial modeling and forecasting.
