Our Legal Affairs team is looking for a junior and intermediate Contracts Advisor to support Supply, Trading & Optimization’s (ST&O) diverse commodity supply and trading portfolios including natural gas, crude oil, financial, power, products and environmental commodities. In this role, you will facilitate confirmation processes, counterparty onboarding, and collaboration with internal stakeholders to ensure the organization’s contractual arrangements align with regulatory standards and company policies and procedures.

- Junior role: 3 years of relevant contract management experience in the energy industry
- Intermediate role: 5+ years of relevant contract management experience in the energy industry, with a strong understanding of commodity markets- Post–secondary education in business, economics, legal, supply chain or related field
- Advanced computer skills (MS Office) and proficiency in SharePoint and Power BI
- Proficiency in understanding legal contract language
- Experience with SAP, TriplePoint CXL or other Energy Trading & Risk Management system would be considered an asset

- Manage standard and non standard daily commodity confirmations and contract preparation using precedent document templates
- Provide project support to the contracts team and assist Traders with general contract-related inquiries and documentation
- Review and validate third-party prepared commodity confirmations to confirm deal accuracy and completeness
- Engage in continuous improvement initiatives and leverages industry knowledge and market trends to draft, review, and update contract templates and precedents
- Act as a key liaison between ST&O and external customers to investigate and resolve trade discrepancies
- Partner with internal stakeholders including legal affairs, credit, compliance, tax and front office to coordinate onboarding and contract reviews
- Maintain contracts within Suncor’s system of record and in accordance with company document retention policies
- This is an office-based role; you will work out of our Calgary head office located in the Suncor Energy Centre (150 – 6th Ave SW)
- Hours of work are a regular 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday
