Job Summary:

As a Construction Coordinator, you will coordinate, benchmark, oversee, and close out URD and Street Light Projects. Inspect installation of these facilities to ensure quality and compliance with Company standards and procedures, and compliance with various governmental agency requirements. Reports to Distribution Project Management Manager and perform duties in compliance with company and department procedures.



Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

Assign and field check work in connection with construction of the distribution system associated with URD, OVH, and Street Lighting Projects.
Oversee new construction and assure that all work is performed in accordance with Company standards, procedures, and safe work practices and in compliance with government regulations.
Field check street repairs and other restoration work resulting from project work for quality.
Visit job sites to assure that the construction work is being performed according to plans, to discuss any problems that may occur and to check the quality and quantity of work being performed by our employees and contractor(s).
Communicate with contractors to maintain good relations and to assure satisfaction with construction progress.
Counsel with supervisor and management on all pertinent matters related to construction and assist in the preparation of project budget as applicable.
Check project reports, work orders and billing for timeliness, accuracy, and completeness.
Ensure that all project documentation and close out requirements are handled in compliance with SAP process flow guidelines.
Perform material analysis in SAP and make comment entries when necessary.
Review Project(s) Report daily to monitor status of construction work.
Support the Service Consultant with coordination of project work with other departments such as RTO, dispatchers, and engineering.
Field check proposed job sites to coordinate activities with city, county or state improvement projects, other utilities, and customers to avoid conflicts.
Assign and route work for Company crews and contractors according to pre-determined work schedule priorities.
Occasionally prepares cost estimates on special projects.
Remain current with new practices, new tools or equipment, new materials, and new techniques by attending operational meetings and reading various publications.
Assist management team in monitoring construction deadlines using the Customer Need Date Report.
Must demonstrate commitment to compliance with applicable laws and regulations, the Company's Ethics and Compliance Code of Conduct, and other Company policies and procedures, and take all required training courses.
Must Demonstrate respect for all Individuals and adhere to the Company's values and business practices.



Experience:

High School Diploma or GED.
Preferred minimum seven (7) years electric distribution work experience.
Valid driver’s license.
Able to utilize electric distribution background and experience to establish and communicate project management activities with Contractors daily.

Able to operate a motor vehicle and maintain a Texas Driver’s License.
Able to ensure that the Contractor maintains compliance with CenterPoint Energy's specifications, safety rules and OSHA standards while completing assigned work on schedule.
Able to utilize basic math (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division) to quantify labor cost, material variances, construction units performed, and invoice amounts accumulated.
Able to utilize SAP and other computer resources to monitor and report on work order costs, material allocations and purchase order history.
Able to manage multiple assignments and responsibilities within tight time constraints.
Work experience with gas and/or electric construction practices.



Physical Requirements:

Able to exert more than 30 pounds of force occasionally and more than 10 pounds of force frequently to move objects.
Able to bend, lift/carry, climb, crouch, reach, squat and sit for long periods of time.
Able to sit, stand or walk for long periods of time.
Able to view computer terminal for extended periods of time.
Able to demonstrate manual dexterity to operate a personal computer.
Able to operate copy machine, fax machine, calculator, telephone and other office equipment.
Able to work a varied schedule with projects and deadlines requiring the ability to meet changing demands.

Able to operate and drive a motor vehicle.
Able to conduct frequent field job site inspections to various locations and in all weather conditions.
Able to respond to emergency call outs at any time day or night.

Active participate during an EOP event.



Working Conditions:

Able to work indoors in normal office environment and outdoors with occasional exposure to all weather conditions. These meetings and field inspections may require extensive walking on land used for construction sites, which is located away from paved roads, and may involve crossing through mud, debris, heavy foliage, construction areas, and creeks or pastureland. Field environment may also involve being around livestock and or captive animals.
Able to travel as necessary to off-site locations, with occasional overnight stays required.
Able to work in a fast-paced environment with high daily pressure to meet deadlines.
Able to work occasional overtime (scheduled and/or unscheduled, nights and/or weekends), as needed or required to meet established deadlines.
May be required to remain in the service area during emergency events and assume responsibilities assigned by the company to aide in restoration efforts.
Active participate during an EOP event.
