This full-time position reports to the Transmission & Distribution Manager and is located at the Ed Fischer Operations Center, 8600 NE 117th Avenue, Vancouver, WA 98662. Working hours are Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Supervision of CPU line crews, contracted line crews and subcontractors
Complete daily crew visits, safety inspections; attend informational utility conferences; serve on various utility committees such as Apprenticeship, Standards, etc.; respond to customer questions, concerns and arrange for outages that least impact customers; assist with interviews and selection process for job vacancies; schedule employee annual leave; perform employee performance appraisals; process timesheets and verify accuracy and other documentation for jobs.
Coordinate long-range schedule needs with customers, engineers and planners; assist with long term planning and budgeting; work with departments; meet with other utilities for joint use or joint trench.
Coordinate Agency Driven and Utility Capital Construction Projects
Review designs and advise changes; conduct site visits; facilitate and lead preconstruction meetings; meet with city, county and state agencies; work with agency contractors.
Design system maintenance jobs; arrange for locates; arrange for outages; arrange for permits in right of ways with city, county and state; arrange for follow up work. Ability to work extended hours restoring outages and coordinating crew work during emergency situations. Candidates for this position will be required to complete stand-by supervisor duties.
Resolve safety concerns; keep up with safety changes/concerns; facilitate training and safety meetings.
Requires a Journeyman Electrical Certification; Candidates lacking a Journeyman Electrical Certification will need to demonstrate pursuit of higher education to enhance their ability in strategic thinking, human resource and management areas. Technical and practical knowledge of the installation and maintenance of electrical transmission and distribution systems both overhead and underground. Planning project design, specifications and scheduling. Demonstrated human relations, supervisory skills and management of job coordination.
Employees and dependents are eligible for medical, dental, vision, basic life insurance and disability insurance. Employees are enrolled in Washington State PERS and may enroll in deferred compensation plans. Employees will also receive eight hours of vacation leave and sick leave every month and twelve paid holidays throughout the calendar year.
Salary ranges are market based and established annually. With full competency in the role and satisfactory performance, the target salary is midpoint within the established range.
