Since 1972 Urban Accessories have prided ourselves on being the designer’s foundry. We have worked with thousands of architects, artists, and designers to create high quality bespoke grating and site furnishings that are both sustainable and durable.
We are constantly pursuing ways to improve outdoor public life. We believe that public spaces are for the people and as such our latest designs are exceptionally human-centric and accessible.
Our designs helped define the decorative grating industry 50 years ago and still remain leaders due to their exceptional craftsmanship and timeless style.
We’re excited to announce that we are looking to add a CNC Router Operator/Programmer to the Urban Accessories team. This role requires both programming and operating responsibilities. The ideal candidate will be experienced in CNC machining, confident in creating toolpaths using Inventor CAM, and comfortable running a 2022 M Series 144 3-axis CNC router to produce composite foundry patterns. Candidates should have the ability to work independently while collaborating closely with the pattern shop manager and pattern makers.
· Program and optimize CNC toolpaths using Inventor CAM.
· Operate a 2022 M Series 144 3-axis CNC router to machine composite materials used in foundry patterns.
· Perform machine setup, tooling changes, and routine maintenance.
· Load, secure, and align raw material properly for machining.
· Conduct test runs and verify accuracy before moving to full production.
· Troubleshoot machine and programming issues to maintain workflow.
· Perform quality checks to ensure accuracy to design specifications.
· Maintain documentation for programs, revisions, and setups.
· Collaborate with the pattern shop manager and patternmakers to meet production schedules.
· Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area, following company safety protocols.
· Prior CNC machining experience required (router or mill).
· Proficiency in CNC programming; Inventor CAM experience strongly preferred.
· Ability to read and interpret blueprints and CAD models.
· Strong understanding of machining composites or similar materials.
· Familiarity with CNC machine setup and maintenance.
· Ability to work independently and reliably on a fixed production schedule.
· Familiarity with foundry or pattern shop environments.
· A willingness to learn new machining techniques and continuously improve.
Work will be performed on the manufacturing floor. While programming occurs on a computer, most of the time will be spent operating the CNC router, setting up jobs, and inspecting parts. The environment is industrial, requiring strict adherence to PPE and safety procedures.
