CNC Laser Operator

Job Overview

CryptoTherm, a leading manufacturing company in the cooling and heat transfer sector, is seeking a skilled CNC Laser Operator to join our dynamic team.

In this role, you will be responsible for operating our laser cutting table to cut metal components to precise specifications. Successful candidates will have strong attention to detail, solid mechanical aptitude, and a commitment to maintaining high quality standards.

Responsibilities / Duties:

- Set up and operate CNC laser cutting table to cut sheet metal and plate to required specifications.

- Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and work orders to determine job requirements.

- Load and unload materials from the laser cutting table safely and efficiently.

- Adjust machine settings for material type, thickness, and laser parameters.

- Monitor cutting operations to ensure accuracy, quality, and adherence to tolerances.

- Perform first article inspections and regular part checks using measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges.

- Perform minor machine maintenance and cleaning tasks to keep equipment in top condition.

- Maintain clear and accurate production records and log any issues or deviations.

- Follow safety procedures, wear appropriate PPE, and contribute to a clean and organized workspace.

- Assist in other shop duties such as deburring, material handling, or equipment checks as needed.

- Complete daily/weekly/monthly maintenance inspections on machines, tools, and/or equipment.

- Other duties as assigned.

Skills / Requirements:

- Technical training in CNC or metalworking is an asset.

- Proven experience operating CNC laser cutting tables (e.g., fiber laser or CO2 laser systems).

- Strong understanding of metal types, material behavior under heat, and cutting parameters.

- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and work instructions accurately.

- Mechanical troubleshooting skills with the ability to adjust machine settings on the fly.

- Good organizational skills and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.

- Ability to lift materials up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods.

- Strong attention to detail and quality control mindset.

- Comfortable using hand tools, power tools, and forklifts (training provided if needed).

- Commitment to workplace safety, team collaboration, and continuous improvement.

- Experience with Fusion 360 or AutoCAD is considered an asset.
