About This Job

About the company:

Pure Lab Vitamins is a Canadian natural health company based in Ottawa, dedicated to developing and delivering high-quality, science-informed nutritional supplements that support foundational health and well-being. The company’s roots trace back to the insights of a compounding pharmacist who began formulating evidence-based supplements to address real patient needs, which laid the groundwork for a broader line of products that go beyond everyday vitamins.

Pure Lab Vitamins’ product portfolio includes a growing range of vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, and specialized formulas designed to support everything from immune health and metabolic function to stress resilience and nutrient replenishment. All products are made in Canada under Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) standards, are Health Canada licensed, and undergo rigorous third-party testing to verify purity, potency, and consistency.

The brand is known for its commitment to clean formulations with minimal non-medicinal ingredients, transparent sourcing, and a focus on therapeutic value. Pure Lab’s products are sold through natural health retailers, clinics, and online channels across Canada, and are widely respected for their credibility among health professionals and consumers alike.

The Role

We are seeking a Chief of Staff & Strategy Officer (CSSO) to serve as a senior strategic partner to the CEO and a key architect of the company’s next phase of growth.

This role sits at the intersection of strategy, product, industry expertise, and commercial enablement. The CSSO translates the CEO's and Board's strategic intent into clear priorities, disciplined execution, and scalable systems—while ensuring the company’s product, formulation, education, and messaging remain credible, evidence-based, and aligned.

This is a hands-on leadership role for an experienced industry professional who brings both deep domain credibility and the ability to build structure, cadence, and accountability across a growing organization.

What You’ll Do

Strategic Advisory & Business Integration

- Act as a trusted advisor to the CEO, contributing industry insight and perspective to annual and quarterly planning

- Partner with the CEO to translate strategic priorities into executable business plans

- Help design and implement cross-functional KPI frameworks that drive clarity, focus, and accountability

- Establish and lead a monthly operating review cadence, ensuring high-quality data, alignment across teams, and follow-through on commitments

Product Strategy & R&D Leadership

- Own and evolve the company’s product and formulation roadmap in alignment with the company’s mission, vision, and growth strategy

- Integrate market trends, customer insights, regulatory considerations, and competitive dynamics into product decisions

- Partner closely with Sales leadership to:

- Identify priority product categories by geography and channel

- Ensure product claims, education, and formulation integrity are tightly aligned

- Collaborate with Operations leadership to guide:

- Ingredient sourcing strategy

- Manufacturing decisions and trade-offs

- Lab testing standards and quality protocols

Sales, Education & Marketing Alignment (Enablement-First)

- Oversee education and product messaging, ensuring consistency across Sales, Marketing, and digital channels

- Translate product strategy into clear, credible messaging that supports commercial objectives

- Ensure education initiatives are practical, evidence-based, and directly enable sales effectiveness

- Support (not replace) Sales leadership by:

- Helping define expansion and prioritization strategies

- Ensuring alignment between sales incentives, product availability, and messaging

- Acting as a strategic thought partner rather than a top-down manager

External Credibility & Thought Leadership

- Serve as a key external interface with:

- Medical professionals

- Health practitioners

- Industry partners and opinion leaders

- Support the development of:

- Training and education materials

- Self-serve education platforms (website, app, digital tools)

- High-credibility content that reinforces brand trust

- Contribute to storytelling and thought leadership where it supports education-led growth and long-term brand authority

Requirements

What We’re Looking For

- Significant experience in a regulated, science-led, or credibility-driven industry (e.g., health, wellness, nutrition, medical, formulation-based products)

- Proven ability to operate as a strategic partner to a CEO in a scaling organization

- Strong product and formulation literacy, with the ability to balance innovation, evidence, and commercial realities

- Experience building operating cadence, planning rhythms, and KPI discipline

- Comfort working cross-functionally with Sales, Marketing, Operations, and Education

- High executive presence and credibility with both internal leaders and external stakeholders

- Pragmatic, collaborative leadership style—able to influence without relying on formal authority

Why This Role Matters

This role is central to ensuring the company scales without losing credibility, coherence, or focus. The Chief of Staff & Strategy Officer helps translate ambition into execution, connects product integrity to commercial success, and builds the systems required to support sustainable growth.

Benefits

Compensation & Total Rewards

This role offers a target annual base salary range of $125,000–$150,000 CAD, commensurate with experience and scope. Compensation will be pro-rated during the phased, part-time portion of the role, with transition to full-time compensation upon moving into the full-time executive phase. Additional total rewards and benefits will be aligned with the full-time role.

How This Role will Work

This role is designed as a phased engagement, giving both you and Pure Lab Vitamins the opportunity to build trust, clarity, and momentum before transitioning into a full-time executive role.

Phase 1 (Feb–Apr): Part-time 2 days per week

You’ll spend time getting deeply familiar with the business—its products, operations, and people—while building strong relationships with the leadership team. Together, we’ll identify what’s working, where execution can improve, and align on priorities for the next quarter.

Phase 2 (May–July): Part-time 3 days per week

As your involvement increases, you’ll begin leading agreed-upon initiatives, helping improve how the company plans, tracks progress, and executes across product, education, and marketing. You’ll also contribute to discussions around margin improvement and regional growth.

Phase 3 (August onward): Full Time

You’ll step into a full-time executive role, owning the execution rhythm across key areas and helping drive long-term growth, alignment, and operational discipline as a core member of the leadership team.

This phased approach is intentional—it enables a strong mutual fit and lays the foundation for long-term success on both sides.
