Job Summary

Join our dynamic team as a CDL Driver/Mechanic, where you will play a vital role in ensuring the safe, efficient, and reliable transportation of freight across various routes. This position combines professional truck driving with hands-on mechanical skills to maintain and repair a fleet of commercial vehicles. You’ll be responsible for delivering freight using manual transmission trucks, including flatbeds, tankers, and other specialized equipment. Your expertise will help keep our operations running smoothly while providing exceptional service to our clients.

Responsibilities

- Safely operate tractor-trailers and commercial trucks with manual transmissions across designated routes, ensuring timely deliveries of freight such as refrigerated goods, flatbed loads, tankers, and roll-off containers.

- Load and unload cargo efficiently and securely, adhering to safety protocols and weight regulations.

- Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles to identify mechanical issues or safety concerns.

- Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on trucks and trailers to ensure optimal performance; escalate complex repairs to the maintenance team.

- Manage freight handling tasks including securing loads on flatbeds or tankers, verifying shipment accuracy, and documenting delivery details.

- Maintain compliance with all Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and company policies during driving and vehicle operation.

- Utilize forklift or dump truck equipment when necessary for loading or unloading materials at various facilities.

- Follow route schedules diligently while adapting to traffic conditions or unforeseen delays to meet delivery deadlines.

Requirements

- Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with a clean driving record, preferably with endorsements for tankers or refrigerated trailers.

- Proven experience in truck driving, especially with tractor-trailers, flatbeds, tankers, or refrigerated units.

- Strong knowledge of manual transmission operation and vehicle safety standards.

- Hands-on mechanical skills related to truck maintenance and repair; experience with forklifts or dump trucks is a plus.

- Delivery driver experience handling freight loads such as roll-off containers or freight shipments requiring load & unload procedures.

- Ability to perform routine inspections, troubleshoot mechanical issues, and perform minor repairs confidently.

- Excellent route planning skills with a focus on safety, efficiency, and customer service.

Pay: $20.00 - $28.00 per hour
