Job Description:
The Lead – Business Technologies & Autonomy Lead is responsible for driving the successful execution of mining technology initiatives at ASARCO. This role bridges strategic technology innovation with structured project support, ensuring that autonomy programs, digital tools, and business technology projects deliver measurable value to operations. The Lead will coordinate cross-functional stakeholders, oversee readiness and commissioning activities, and provide project controls, procurement, and reporting support. Acting as a trusted liaison between operations, IT, maintenance, safety, and vendor partners, this role ensures new technologies are effectively integrated, sustained, and aligned with business goals.
- Support the planning, deployment, and integration of business technologies and autonomy initiatives across mine operations.
- Collaborate with superintendents, engineers, analysts, and IT teams to align technology projects with operational needs.
- Assist in identifying process gaps and opportunities where business technologies or autonomy solutions can drive improvements.
- Maintain structured documentation, workflows, and transition packages for project handovers.
- Support commissioning, validation, and user acceptance testing of new systems and tools.
- Serve as a liaison between technology project leaders, operations, maintenance, safety, IT, and external vendors.
- Ensure stakeholders understand roles, deliverables, and interdependencies.
- Prepare materials, reports, and structured updates for leadership reviews.
- Coordinate training sessions to ensure teams are equipped to adopt new technologies.
- Track training completion and provide feedback on adoption progress.
- Support change management activities during technology rollouts.
- Monitor project risks, bottlenecks, and dependencies, escalating as required.
- Ensure compliance with ASARCO’s environmental, health, and safety standards throughout project execution.
- Support procurement processes including requisitions, vendor evaluations, and bid comparisons.
- Track budgets, expenses, and forecasts in alignment with project targets.
- Maintain accurate purchasing, delivery, and cost-control records.
- Monitor KPIs such as milestone completion, training readiness, and issue resolution.
- Prepare dashboards, reports, and presentations for leadership updates.
- Support incident reviews and corrective action follow-ups during rollout phases.
- Strong understanding of project management methodologies (e.g., Agile, Waterfall, Scrum) and tools.
- Technical expertise in enterprise systems, ERP platforms (such as SAP), and other business applications.
- Basic understanding of operational readiness concepts and project lifecycle phases.
- Knowledge of mine site or industrial operations (preferred for mining-specific roles).
- Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills for working with diverse teams.
- Proficiency in using Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) and familiarity with project management tools.
- Team-oriented mindset with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments.

- Understanding of health, safety, and environmental compliance requirements (preferred).

- Willingness to work in challenging environments, including conditions with extreme temperatures, confined spaces, or high noise levels if on-site visits are required.
- Availability to work outside normal business hours to meet project demands.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project, and Outlook) and project management software (e.g., Jira, Trello, MS Project).
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Operations Management, Business Administration, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
- 2–5 years of experience in operations, project coordination, or a related role in industrial, mining, or heavy industry sectors.
- Familiarity with ERP systems (e.g., SAP) or similar tools.
- Exposure to project management or operational readiness activities.
- Prior experience with commissioning, testing, or process improvements in an industrial environment.
This position requires training in environmental awareness and safety, including completion of the appropriate MSHA training.
