Engineering, Procurement, and Construction Management

firm supporting the upstream and midstream oil and gas industry. We are seeking an experienced, motivated

AUTOMATION LEAD

to oversee and execute capital projects for industrial infrastructure, including multi-well production facilities, central gathering stations, oil terminals, and saltwater disposals.

The

AUTOMATION LEAD

will be responsible for supporting the full project lifecycle, ensuring successful execution from

concept to commissioning

. This role requires hands-on experience in instrumentation and automation design, procurement, field execution, and client coordination. This position reports to

Karla Orth, Vice President of Engineering

.

Key Responsibilities Technical Oversight & Field Support

- Provide technical planning for the completion of the instrumentation and automation scope of projects

- Engage with clients to define project requirements and ensure timely, high-quality deliverables

- Create or review integration package deliverables including instrument list with communication protocol, cause & effect, and control narrative

- Provide technical expertise in I&C system design, including equipment selection and control systems.

- Manage specification and procurement of instruments and PLCs and develop vendor partnerships

- Review and approve key project deliverables, such as instrument datasheets, wiring schematics, and PLC drawings.

- Manage integrators to achieve project success

- Support commissioning and start-up activities, including Pre-Startup Safety Reviews (PSSR).

- Conduct field visits for troubleshooting, vendor inspections, and project execution oversight (approximately 15% travel required).

Client & Team Coordination

- Serve as the primary I&C point of contact for clients, vendors, and subcontractors.

- Foster collaboration between engineering, procurement, and construction teams to ensure project success.

- Maintain clear and professional communication with all stakeholders.

Qualifications

Required:

- 10+ Years of experience in instrumentation and controls in oil & gas or industrial sectors OR Bachelor’s degree in Controls Engineering and 5+ years of experience

- Strong background in industrial automation, SCADA systems, and PLC programming for oilfield infrastructure projects.

- Experience working on multi-discipline teams and managing subcontractors.

- Knowledge of API, ISA, and OSHA standards.

- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.

- Must be legally allowed to operate a motor vehicle and able to pass an in-depth drug screening.
