Universal Plant Services, LLC (UPS) is seeking a results-driven Business Development Professional to expand our presence in the power generation market. This role is responsible for identifying, developing, and closing opportunities for parts sales, repair services, and field service projects in the gas, steam, and renewable power sectors. The ideal candidate will combine deep industry knowledge with strong relationship-building skills to drive revenue growth, strengthen market position, and deliver value to customers.
- Develop and execute a strategic sales plan to grow UPS’s power market parts, repairs, and field service offerings.
- Identify and qualify new business opportunities across utilities, IPPs, OEMs, and industrial power producers.
- Build a robust pipeline of opportunities through direct prospecting, networking, industry events, and customer referrals.
- Establish and maintain strong, trust-based relationships with decision-makers, influencers, and procurement teams.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for customer accounts, ensuring clear communication, issue resolution, and consistent follow-up.
- Conduct regular customer visits to assess needs, identify service opportunities, and present UPS solutions.
- Prepare and deliver proposals, bids, and presentations tailored to customer requirements.
- Negotiate commercial terms to secure profitable contracts while maintaining long-term customer relationships.
- Collaborate with internal engineering, operations, and supply chain teams to ensure feasibility, scope clarity, and delivery commitments.
- Monitor competitor activity, market trends, and customer requirements to refine sales strategies.
- Provide regular sales forecasts, pipeline updates, and market insights to leadership.
- Contribute to pricing strategy, product positioning, and marketing initiatives.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 5+ years of business development, account management, or technical sales experience in the power generation industry.- Proven track record of selling capital parts, repair services, and/or outage support in the turbine, generator, or balance-of-plant sectors.
- Strong negotiation, presentation, and closing skills.
- Ability to travel up to 50% domestically.
- Experience with gas turbine, steam turbine, and generator maintenance cycles and parts supply chains.
- Established network of contacts within utilities, IPPs, and power plant operators.
- Understanding of outage planning, maintenance scheduling, and EPC/owner’s engineer relationships.
- Strategic thinking with a hunter mentality for new business.
- Strong technical aptitude and ability to translate customer needs into actionable solutions.
- Self-motivated, results-oriented, and comfortable working independently or in cross-functional teams.
