Building & Equipment Mechanic – The Building & Equipment Mechanic is responsible for the upkeep of both our Newark and Lyons facilities. Using a variety of background skills including carpentry, plumbing, electrical, fabrication and masonry knowledge and general repair skills, the candidate would take care of the buildings and equipment for the facility and construction group. Responsible for troubleshooting and repairing tools and equipment, keeping tools and supplies organized and in good working order, and should be familiar with building security and safety protocols. Additionally, this person would be responsible for supporting the construction division with pulling tooling and supplies for jobs and delivering to jobsites when needed.
Responsibilities of the Building & Equipment Mechanic include:
· Performing checks for HVAC, air, plumbing, and electrical systems
· Performing routine maintenance around two different manufacturing/commercial buildings
· Checking and responding to/correcting safety issues and hazards
· Upkeep of tools and equipment as well as related documentation and maintenance records
· Keeping an inventory of supplies and corresponding SDS/safety documentation
· Knowledge and history of working with equipment such as fork trucks, bobcats, concrete pumps, large mixers, cranes, hand and power tools, etc. to schedule and perform preventative maintenance
· Knowledge and background in troubleshooting electrical issues, including assured grounding and recordkeeping requirements, working on basic 3 phase and single-phase power
· Applying preventative measures to issues to reduce the risk of future problems
· Prepare tooling and equipment for use on construction jobsites, including loading trucks and/or delivering when necessary.
· Critical thinking and problem-solving skills for fixing mechanical issues
· Administrative skills for recordkeeping, computer use knowledge is helpful
· Physical strength and dexterity to lift, move and handle equipment
· Strong verbal and written communication skills for discussing and problem-solving maintenance issues, including interpersonal skills
· Ability to work in extreme conditions, including heat and cold
· Valid and clean drivers license and ability to obtain and maintain a medical card for DOT driving
This is a full-time, year-round position. Consistent schedule, local and at last 40 hours per week. Starting wage minimum is $25 per hour for a qualified candidate and is negotiable based on experience.
Expected hours: No less than 40 per week
