Structural Materials Inc. is seeking a skilled Construction Equipment/Small Engine Mechanic to join our team. This position is responsible for the repair and maintenance of small engines and construction-related equipment, including drills, saws, compressors, generators, and other powered tools. The ideal candidate will have strong mechanical and diagnostic skills, hands-on experience, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced shop environment.
Key Responsibilities:
•Diagnose, repair, and maintain small engines and construction equipment, including gas, diesel, propane, and electric-powered tools.
•Perform troubleshooting and repairs on mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
•Conduct routine maintenance and safety checks to ensure equipment operates efficiently and reliably.
•Use diagnostic tools and software to identify equipment issues.
•Ensure all equipment meets safety and operational standards before being returned to service.
•Perform warranty repairs and document work in accordance with manufacturer requirements.
•Maintain accurate service records and log parts used.
•Follow all company safety standards and maintain a clean, organized work environment.
•Other duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications & Skills:
•High school diploma or GED required; technical certification or trade school preferred.
•2+ years of experience in small engine or construction equipment repair.
•Strong working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
•Familiarity with brands such as Stihl, Husqvarna, Honda, or similar a plus.
•Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
•Ability to lift up to 80 lbs and perform physically demanding work.
•Proficient in using hand tools, power tools, diagnostic equipment, and repair manuals.
•Ability to read and interpret schematics and service documentation.
•Basic computer skills for logging repair records.
•Strong problem-solving ability, attention to detail, and self-motivation.
•Professional appearance, good communication skills, and a positive attitude.
