Overview:
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Bookkeeper II to join our team. This role will perform all day-to-day financial operational duties up to the preparation and finalization of trial balance statements, including reconciliations, allocations, detailed transaction postings, and applicable tax liabilities (including payroll). The ideal candidate will have a thorough understanding of general ledger and sub-ledger structures, be able to prepare reports in accordance with GAAP, and provide training and support to entry-level staff.
- Obtain and maintain a thorough understanding of financial reporting, GL, and sub-ledger structures (Cash, AP, AR, Invoicing, Inventory, Purchasing & Payroll).
- Prepare and finalize trial balance reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing account information in accordance with GAAP.
- Perform detailed adjustments, reconciliations, and allocations as needed.
- Execute and distribute annual 1099s for all applicable vendor payments.
- Calculate and prepare various tax returns (income, sales, use, property, payroll, etc.) in compliance with deadlines.
- Maintain and archive accurate accounting records (electronic and hard copy).
- Train and mentor entry-level accounting staff on processes and procedures.
- Assist in the maintenance of accurate AP and AR processing and collections.
- Coordinate with inventory, purchasing, and payroll teams to ensure accurate data and documentation.
- Provide senior management with timely updates on cash position, budget targets, and financial reports.
- Serve as the primary accounting contact for IT troubleshooting requests related to accounting systems.
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations related to accounting and tax.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business, or related field, or equivalent training.
- 3+ years of experience in a private or public accounting environment.- Strong analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in accounting and spreadsheet software (Word, Excel, accounting systems).
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, multi-functional environment.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to meet deadlines.
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to compute complex financial calculations and prepare accurate reports.
