Description:

Responsible for operating specialized tools and machinery that fire high-powered jets of sand or other abrasives at metal and other similarly hard surfaces. This is done to remove paint, grime, old adhesives, rust, and other imperfections from the surface so that it can be coated. Must understand Richter’s work order and quality system.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

· Prepares surfaces by masking or chemical rinsing before blasting.

· Properly blasts material in accordance with Richter quality standards.

· Monitors and periodically changes blast media.

· Perform periodic checks on equipment and troubleshoot problems detected.

· Performs a quick visual inspection of finished goods to ensure quality after they are completed including components, subassemblies and assemblies.

· Maintains safe work conditions by following guidelines and procedures.

- Assists with other projects, as needed, performs other duties as assigned.

- Follows the code of conduct and policies defined in the employee handbook.

Competencies:

· Basic written and communication skills

Qualifications:

· High school diploma or GED

Physical Demands:

The physical demands described below must be met to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

· Dexterity is mandatory as this job requires frequent use of hands and fingers.

· Will be required to talk, hear, and see. Vision requirements for this position include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, ability to adjust focus and ability to differentiate between colors.

· Occasional lifting and moving of up to 50 lbs.

· Must be able to stand 6-10 hours a day

Work Environment:

· This position is in a manufacturing setting.

· Indoor work which may not be temperature controlled.

· Exposed to loud sounds and distracting noise levels.

Job Type: Full-time
