PURPOSE:
The Benefits and Payroll Specialist will assist the Benefits and Compensation Manager with the administration of benefit and retirement programs as well as assisting the Payroll team with bi-weekly payroll processing and payroll support. This role will act as a liaison between employees and insurance vendors to resolve benefit related problems, ensure effective utilization of plans, and positive employee relations. Provides administrative support to Human Resources functions as needed.
KEY OBJECTIVES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Benefits:•Ensures the accuracy of all benefit enrollments into the HRIS and benefit systems to provide vendors with accurate eligibility and coverage information
•Assists with new hire orientations
•Processes qualified life events and other enrollments within the benefit system
•Works closely with Payroll and Treasury to process bi-weekly funding for applicable benefits
•Reviews and processes billings from vendors, and advances for payment
•Resolves discrepancies with carriers, payroll and the company
•Acts as liaison with various insurance carriers and fosters effective relationships with client representatives
•Key resource for HR Business Partners to ensure understanding and compliance with benefits, Corporate/HR policies, and regulations
•Assists with annual open enrollment period during 4th quarter of each year
•Assists with distribution of materials from carriers and communicating changes to employees and arranges for on-site representation by providers
•Completes reports for management as requested
Payroll:
•Responsible for full ownership of the payroll process and independently processes the bi-weekly and semi-monthly payroll through HRIS
•Reconcile voluntary payroll deductions and submit payment requests
•Prepare monthly, quarterly, annual, and ad hoc reports
•Process garnishments which include child support and tax levies
•Process special wage/salary payouts and adjustments via off-cycles
•Respond to employee inquiries about payroll and payroll related matters
•Provide excellent customer service to employees and HR team members
•Compile payroll data such vacation time, insurance and 401(k) deductions
•Maintain paid time off and vacation accrual file quarterly
•Recommend and participate in the development of new procedures and policies related the operation of payroll
•Issue W-2 Wage and Tax Statement reprints
•Respond to and collect audit selection requests and data
•Comply with local, state, and federal laws for taxes, vacation pay, termination pay, etc.
•Create and document current and new practices for SOP’s, policies, and procedures
•Other duties as assigned
REQUIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCES:
•Bachelor's Degree in Business, Human Resources, or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred
•3+ years of experience in the Benefits or Payroll preferred
•Must be proficient in Word and Excel
PREFERRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCES:
•Familiarity with HRIS Systems (Dayforce, Peoplesoft, etc.)
•Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures
