This position will be responsible for performing complex accounting functions including financial reporting, analysis, and interpretation to guide management decisions.
- Leads month-end close activities, including general ledger maintenance, journal entries, reconciliations, and financial reporting
- Oversees fixed asset accounting, including capitalization, disposals, depreciation, amortization, and analysis of complex transactions related to high-value equipment
- Manages inventory accounting, including work in progress and reserve reviews for excess and obsolete inventory
- Prepares and analyzes financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements, ensuring they are accurate and comply with accounting standards
- Generates or develops regular weekly reports and KPIs (e.g., margin variance analysis, liquidity report, look back report, inventory report)
- Assists with other monthly reporting as needed (e.g., Perform calculations for Sales commissions)
- Assists in the development and monitoring of budgets & forecasts, and analyzes budget/forecast variances
- Regularly analyzes reports and provides financial insights to support decision making that reduces costs, improves operational efficiencies, and maximizes profitability
- Assists with various ad hoc requests, data analysis, and supporting internal/external customer inquiries to improve operational efficiencies
- Manages AP personnel and carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; issuing rewards and performance correction; addressing complaints and resolving problems
- Provides operational support to Accounting
- Leads monthly, quarterly and year-end close activities, including the preparation of monthly quarterly and annual financial statements
- Conducts other quarterly and annual reporting as necessary
- Assists with preparing for and responding to audits
- Plays an active role in the planning, implementation and final reporting of physical inventories
- Supports product cost development, cost savings initiatives, budget creation, forecasting, and activity-based costing in a complex manufacturing setting, and assists with other projects as needed
- Ensures all accounting practices are in compliance with legal guidelines, established accounting principles, and internal policies
- Implements and maintains internal controls to safeguard assets, prevent fraud, and ensure compliance with regulations
- Provides recommendations for internal process improvements, and then works with the team to implement
- Understands and supports the quality policy and ISO 9001:2015 and IATF 16949 (if applicable) Quality Management Systems
- Establishes and maintains effective professional working relationships with co-workers and every level of management
- Performs all other related duties and assignments as required
- Bachelors degree in Accounting
- AND at least 7 years of related experience
- Previous Manufacturing experience required
CPA certification is a plus but not required
- Proficient with MS Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint & Outlook
- Strong Excel ability, including a strong comfort level with v-look-ups, pivot tables, sum ifs, and nested IF formulas
- Experience with data software is a plus
- Familiarity with accounting software and programs
- Familiarity with ERP systems
- Strong proficiency in GAAP, cost accounting, financial reporting, and relevant accounting software
- Experience closing books in a timely fashion
