POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the direction of the Chief Financial Officer and/or the Controller, the Assistant Controller will be responsible for overseeing and managing the core accounting functions including invoicing and Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable and cost controls, fixed asset management, payroll, P&L and cash forecasting, operating metrics and dashboards, and internal controls establishment and enforcement.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
•Maintain a thorough knowledge of general ledger structure and financial reporting
•Ensure an accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and year-end close
•Supports budget and forecasting activities
•Collaborates with other managers to support overall departmental and company goals and objectives
•Responds to inquiries from the Controller regarding financial results, special reporting, etc.
•Works with Controller to ensure timely quarterly and year-end audits
•Supervises the accounting team to ensure all financial reporting deadlines are met
•Support Controller with special projects and workflow process improvements
•Analyzing and reporting cost variances
•Establish internal control systems to prevent inaccuracies in financial statements
•Encourage efficient use and maintenance of departmental and total organizational financial resources
•Schedule and direct regular audits of organizational accounts and financial transactions
•Work with the Controller to create immediate and future strategies for the organization’s financial planning, procurement, investment and budgeting activities
•Manage and comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings
•Responsible for the daily supervision of direct reports including but not limited to, time keeping, disciplinary action and performance evaluations
•Perform other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
Education & Certifications:
•Accounting degree or commensurate experience
Experience:
•5-10 years of financial experience
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
•Working knowledge in standard costing systems
•Ability to provide direction and coaching to facilitate the development of team members
•Demonstrated ability to identify opportunities for process improvements, introduction or change of policies, as well as to lead the successful implementation of change and improvement
•Superior analytical and problem-solving capabilities
•Must work well under pressure
Special Skills & Training:
•Proficient in Microsoft Word, MS Outlook, Excel, NetSuite, and related software programs.
