Under direct supervision, this position is responsible for assisting the Buyers with the requisitioning, purchasing and expediting of materials used in production/fabrication and field support, securing MRO (Maintenance, Repair, & Operations) contracts and requesting as well as maintaining quotes where necessary.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: may include any or all of the following.
- Compile information and records to prepare purchase orders and verify specifications and shipping instructions to complete the purchase orders.
- Review system generated planned orders for accuracy.
- Search inventory records or warehouse to determine if a sufficient quantity of material is on hand.
- Assist with acquiring quotes for new items (including machined parts).
- Enter purchase orders on required material and send to appropriate supplier via e-mail or call in.
- Review discrepancies on supplier acknowledgements and make any necessary changes to the purchase orders.
- Review supplier pricing and performance as well as verify the quantity/quality of stock received with the Buyer.
- Review and assess requirements regularly and expedite material in order to avoid shop downtime.
- Track major components by job.
- Keep up with supplier lead times.
- Demonstrated ability to provide personal customer service and satisfaction. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
- Proven ability to interact with people, communicating with clear, fluent expressive use of both verbal and written language to convey information and ideas so others will understand.
- Demonstrated ability to plan and organize in order to prioritize and coordinate workload.
- Proven ability to write clearly and informatively, editing work for spelling and grammar; able to read and interpret written information and use clear fluent verbal and written language to convey information and ideas so others will understand.
- Demonstrated ability to follow instructions, respond to management direction; take responsibility for own actions; keep commitments; complete tasks on time or notify appropriate person with an alternate plan.
- Proven ability to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner; gather and analyze information skillfully; develop alternative solutions- High school diploma or GED equivalent and 1+ years of related experience and/or training is required.
- Adequate level of proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite Applications.
