Position Overview: The Purchasing Assistant reports directly to the Purchasing Manager. Requires competent and accurate processing of requisitions and purchase orders. To assist in the administrative process of creating purchase orders, reviewing and resolving issues within the purchase order and receiving processes, and other administrative duties for the Purchasing and Finance areas.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Prepare and process purchase orders based on scheduled needs or as requested; follow up to ensure timely delivery of supplies.
- Monitor and review outstanding purchase orders; maintain accurate records.
- Manage inventory and restocking of office supplies.
- Sort, distribute, and manage incoming and outgoing mail.
- Maintain organized filing systems for purchase orders and related documentation.
- Promptly notify the supervisor of any safety, quality, or maintenance concerns.
- Process labor tickets related to project management activities.
- Generate shipping labels (UPS/FedEx) and schedule small package pickups as needed.
- Operate and monitor the postage meter, including tracking of supply levels.
- Coordinate and update messaging displayed on the lobby reader board.
- Identify and recommend process improvements to enhance efficiency and productivity.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- 1-3 years of manufacturing or foundry environment preferred.
- Associates Degree, or 2 years of purchasing experience and office administration
- Employment eligibility requires U.S. person status under ITAR regulations, including U.S. citizens, permanent residents, or other protected individuals due to export control requirements.
- Basic math skills: addition, subtraction, multiplication, division
- Basic computer skills: Microsoft Excel, Word
Pay Range: $25.00 an hour
