Reports To: Purchasing Manager or CAPEX Manager
Virginia Transformer is seeking an experienced and detail-driven CAPEX Buyer/Expeditor to manage purchasing activities for capital equipment and major projects across our manufacturing facilities. This role is responsible for processing requisitions, generating and managing purchase orders (POs), coordinating with suppliers, and ensuring timely delivery of materials and equipment. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in manufacturing procurement, with excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Review and verify requisition details including quote validity, pricing, and CAPEX approval status.
- Create, modify, and manage POs in accordance with CAPEX instructions and internal approval workflows.
- Monitor PO status and ensure timely release to suppliers.
- Confirm order acceptance with suppliers and verify plant receipt against delivery documentation.
- Review of terms and to be in line with policy and quotation and any discrepancy escalated and resolved.
- Schedule and track inspections in coordination with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
- Manage/coordinate transportation logistics, ensuring timely communication of key milestones such as
- Bill of Lading (BOL)
- Stuffing and pickup schedules
- Delivery tracking and confirmation
- Resolution of receipt quality issues (e.g., packing damage, claims)
- Expedite delivery of critical or urgently needed materials.
- Maintain consistent communication with suppliers for order updates, inspection readiness, and shipment schedules.
- Track and report on supplier performance, proactively addressing delays and escalating critical issues to the Manager.
- Verify all shipment requirements are met before release:
- Completed inspections
- Accurate packing slips and shipping documents
- Required invoices (proforma, commercial, etc.)
- Coordinate with freight forwarders to ensure proper documentation and timely transport.
- Associate’s or bachelor’s degree preferred; supply chain or business-related field is a plus.
- 3+ years of purchasing or procurement experience in a manufacturing environment required.- Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel; experience with ERP systems is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of procurement processes, supply chain logistics, and vendor communication.
- Detail-oriented with excellent follow-up and coordination skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
