About This Job

Worker Type: EmployeeJob Post End Date: 01/12/2026

About this opportunity:

We’re looking for an Application Advisor to join our GIS & Field Data Capture team in Calgary. Reporting to the Manager, GIS & Field Data Capture, you’ll play a key role in supporting and enhancing Cenovus’s field data capture systems and applications.

In this role, you’ll provide technical application support, configuration, and development in alignment with Cenovus standards and best practices. You’ll contribute to solution design—analyzing, architecting, and collaborating with project teams to ensure deliverables meet quality expectations. Additionally, you’ll take ownership of your own application support activities, including assessing requirements and implementing enhancements and maintenance activities to keep our systems optimized and reliable.

If you’re passionate about combining technical expertise with problem-solving and collaboration, this is your opportunity to make an impact on how we capture and leverage critical field data.

What you’ll do:

- Provide tier 2 and 3 support for field data capture applications, including incident management, upgrades, patch execution, testing, and operational documentation.

- Review solution requirements and design, build, and operate application functionality that meets business needs.

- Collaborate with managed service providers and vendors to analyze, configure, test, and implement enhancements—particularly in Energy Components extensions.

- Analyze requirements and recommend optimal solutions, ensuring alignment with IT standards and best practices.

- Create, maintain, and validate technical documentation, while identifying and implementing continuous improvement opportunities.

- Perform system administration to maximize application performance, availability, and reliability.

- Partner with business SMEs, architects, and technical teams to deliver functionality, support risk assessments, and maintain strong stakeholder relationships.

- Oversee application lifecycle activities, including upgrades, disaster recovery testing, audits, and asset management planning.

Who you are:

Our ideal candidate will have the following minimum requirements:

- Legally authorized to work in Canada

- Hold a college diploma or university degree in Computer Science, or a related field—or bring equivalent experience.

- Minimum of 5 years of experience in application support, development, and configuration, plus 2+ years working with Energy Components or similar programs.

- Possess strong technical acumen in Energy Components, with knowledge of oil sands royalty accounting and familiarity with the EC royalty module is considered an asset.

- Skilled in relational databases and SQL (preferably Oracle 19+), and experienced with application development concepts and configuration.

- Understand the oil and gas lifecycle/value chain and royalty accounting processes.

We acknowledge the value of transferrable skills and may consider equivalent combinations of experience and education should you not meet a specific requirement.

Note: The application deadline for this position is 11:59 PM MT January 11, 2026.
