Position Summary
We are seeking an Agriculture Product Quality Specialist to support our Canola crush plant operations. This role is responsible for sampling, testing, and monitoring product quality throughout the production process, ensuring compliance with all safety, environmental, and regulatory standards. Working closely with plant operations, this position plays a key role in maintaining the nutritional integrity of our feed products and ensuring customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
•Conduct sampling and laboratory testing of raw materials, in-process materials, and finished products (meal, oil, cake)
•Generate data for Certificates of Analysis
•Monitor nutritional composition (oil, ash, moisture, protein) of Canola and Camelina meal
•Ensure regulatory compliance for animal feed quality standards
•Collaborate with operators and provide real-time quality feedback
•Maintain communication with feedlot and supplier partners for product feedback
•Partner with academic and industry professionals for research and product optimization
•Calibrate lab instruments and coordinate third-party testing as needed
•Follow safety protocols, SOPs, and environmental procedures
•Maintain lab equipment, inventory, and quality records
•Support emergency response, shutdown activities, and continuous improvement initiatives
•Participate in training, performance feedback, and team meetings
•Provide timely reports and updates to plant leadership
Required Qualifications
•1–2 years of experience in a quality lab, preferably in agriculture or industrial chemistry
•Familiarity with lab supplies, instruments, inventory control, cleanliness and maintenance
•Strong organizational, communication, and time management skills
•High school diploma with relevant college or vocational training
•Valid Alberta driver’s license
•Must be legally eligible to work in Canada and pass pre-employment testing
Preferred Qualifications
•Bachelor of Science or Diploma in Nutritional Science, Agriculture, or related field
•Experience in feed/animal nutrition and regulatory compliance
•First Aid, TDG, and WHMIS certifications
