Job Title: Plant Quality Manager

Position Summary
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Plant Quality Manager to lead our quality efforts in an OEM manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for implementing and maintaining our Quality Management System (QMS), driving continuous improvement, managing internal and external audits, and serving as a key liaison with customers and suppliers. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in quality systems, metal manufacturing processes, and team leadership.
Key Responsibilities
Quality Systems & Compliance
•Lead and enforce compliance with ISO 9001, IATF 16949, and customer-specific quality standards.
•Manage certification and recertification processes for quality standards.
•Represent the site during 3rd-party and customer audits.
Continuous Improvement
•Drive reductions in internal and external defect rates using structured problem-solving methodologies (8D, root cause analysis, Six Sigma).
•Analyze quality data and present recommendations to senior management.
•Develop and execute quality plans, including APQP, PFMEA, PPAP, and gage procurement/design.
Team & Process Leadership
•Supervise, train, and develop quality assurance staff.
•Define roles, responsibilities, and expectations within the team.
•Lead daily quality operations and resolve performance issues as needed.
Customer & Supplier Relations
•Act as primary quality contact for major OEM customer accounts.
•Lead resolution of customer complaints, including root cause analysis and permanent corrective actions.
•Conduct supplier audits, manage quality concerns, and oversee supplier PPAP reviews.
Quality Control Operations
•Oversee First Piece Inspections, gauge calibration, and nonconforming material handling (MRB).
•Ensure accurate documentation and quality reporting using ERP systems (IFS preferred).
•Manage and support quality-related capital purchases and equipment qualifications.
Minimum Qualifications
•High school diploma or GED equivalent (required)
•Bachelor’s degree in a technical or engineering field (preferred)
•ASQ certifications (preferred)
•8+ years of quality experience in a manufacturing environment with a 4-year degree, or 10+ years without a degree
•5+ years in a quality leadership or supervisory role
Required Skills
•Strong knowledge of ISO 9001, IATF 16949, and quality system auditing
•Experience with GD&T, blueprint reading, and precision measuring tools
•Proficiency in APQP, FMEA, PPAP, SPC, and document control
•Familiarity with metal stamping, fabrication, welding, and assembly processes
•Experience using Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) and ERP systems (IFS preferred)
•Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
Preferred Skills
•Proficiency in Minitab or other statistical software
•Six Sigma certification or experience applying Six Sigma tools
•Knowledge of customer-specific OEM quality requirements

•Combination of office and manufacturing floor
•Regular standing, walking, and sitting as required by job duties
