The Activity Coordinator is responsible for planning, implementing and directing recreation programs for the senior citizens of Audubon Towers The nature of this position requires strong communication skills to maintain rapport with management, community and outside agencies that provide recreation. The Activity Coordinator structures activities in accordance with the abilities and interests of the community as a whole. The coordinator must have a positive, upbeat personality with a strong desire to provide activities that stimulate the residents and lift their spirits.
•Develop, organize and implement activities that meet the needs of a diverse and changing population which includes exercise, music, arts and crafts, entertainment, movies, classes and seminars.
•Review and evaluate these programs and recreational services on a regular basis to ensure resident needs are being met.
•Manage and create weekly and monthly calendar of events.
•Plan and coordinate special events for holidays.
•Obtain the necessary items for these programs such as food and products needed for maintaining the events.
•Maintain the Bulletin boards in the Lobby, Community room and elevators.
•Coordinate, schedule and supervise recreation specialists (dance classes, IPad instructor), interns and volunteers in the delivery of programs.
•Organize and neatly maintain all storage closets, as well as the Kitchen and Community Room
•Maintain and coordinate the care and use of the Computer Lab.
•Maintain records as required.
•Observe the tenants’ daily health and behavioral changes and report to the Site Manager.
•Communicate effectively and in a timely manner with the Maintenance staff for special program setups
•Work flexible hours when needed to accommodate resident activities
•Manage public relations for all programs including developing program publicity, brochures, flyers, the monthly newsletters
•Monitor, manage and report on expenses related to resident activities and adhere to budgetary constraints.
•Provide regular report of activities, costs, attendance numbers and other details to Management as requested.
