We’re currently seeking a detail-driven Cost Accountant to join our team. In this role, you’ll help shape financial accuracy, drive cost efficiency, and support strategic growth in a company where your insights truly make an impact.

What You’ll Do

Under general supervision, you’ll perform essential financial and cost accounting functions that keep SMF running smoothly and strategically.

Your day-to-day will include:

- Preparing monthly reconciliations for general ledger, asset, and inventory accounts

- Supporting month-end close through journal entries, reconciliations, and expense reviews

- Analyzing and distributing weekly/monthly gross margin reports

- Developing and maintaining inventory standard costs and variance reporting

- Preparing detailed cost and variance analysis reports for production and inventory

- Managing capital asset records, including additions, deletions, CIP, and depreciation

- Performing the annual inventory re-costing process, including material and labor routing analysis

- Coordinating and preparing department budgets for manufacturing, engineering, sales, and administration

- Maintaining finance G/L reporting systems

- Reviewing and ensuring timely filing of sales and franchise tax returns

- Partnering with auditors during annual audits

- Supporting special projects and continuous improvement initiatives

What You’ll Bring

- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required

- 3–5 years of cost and financial accounting experience

- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access

- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail

- Team-oriented mindset and commitment to accuracy

- Experience in manufacturing or cost accounting environments is a plus
