The Accounting department is seeking an Accountant II to provide support with corporate accounting and management reporting processes, and complex accounting matters. The Accountant II will have a good working knowledge of their areas and use this knowledge to perform required tasks. Responsibilities primarily include the timely performance of significant processes within an area(s) of accounting, an understanding of how this area is impacted by and impacts other accounting department processes, assistance with special projects, and other support as needed. The ideal candidate will have good communication skills, work independently with minimal supervision, demonstrate initiative and attention to detail, be organized, contribute to a positive team environment, and mentor and assist junior accountants.
- Perform monthly, quarterly, and annual financial and / or management reporting processes including:
- Accounting accruals
- Account reconciliations
- Revenue and expenditure reviews and analysis
- Review of system processes and outputs
- Financial and / or management reporting
- Complex accounting procedures
- Journal entry preparation and review
- Management of and adherence to internal and external timelines
- Collaboration efforts with stakeholders for significant or complex areas
- Mentor and review the work of junior accounting
- Perform procedures in compliance with accounting guidance and policies
- Handle information requests from headquarters
- Display knowledge of complex matters in area(s) of responsibility
- Understand system processes and reporting for area(s) of responsibility
- Understand the inputs, processes, and impact of outputs for area(s) of responsibility
- Perform other duties as necessary or as assigned
- Knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting concepts
- Ability to research and apply technical IFRS requirements
- Good interpersonal skills and ability to work well with each member of a team
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills
- Minimum of 2 years accounting experience in a financial reporting role or with a national public accounting firm
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting is required
- Quorum experience a plus
- Experience with oil and gas industry a plus
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English, must be concise and effective speaker and presenter
Work Environment & Physical Demands
This job operates in a professional office environment and routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets. Physical demands include:
- Prolonged periods of sitting and may need to routinely move around to communicate with different groups
