Responsibilities
At OPPD, we partner with businesses across the Omaha region to power economic growth and deliver
reliable, affordable energy. Our Customer Sales & Service team works directly with commercial and
industrial customers to help them manage their energy needs, navigate projects, and identify
opportunities to improve efficiency and reliability.
The Account Manager serves as a trusted energy advisor for assigned commercial and industrial
customer segments. In this role, you'll build strong relationships with business customers, support
energy-related projects, and help organizations understand and adopt OPPD's energy services and
programs.
What You'll Do
- Build and maintain strong relationships with assigned commercial and industrial customers
- Serve as the primary point of contact for energy-related service and sales needs
- Develop account plans including customer profiles, energy reviews, and service strategies
- Coordinate with internal teams and external partners to support customer energy projects
- Help customers evaluate energy services, efficiency programs, and rate options
- Monitor customer needs and proactively address service concerns
- Lead the resolution of customer issues involving multiple departments
- Support energy service projects from planning through completion
- Communicate project milestones and updates to customers and internal stakeholders
- Identify opportunities for customers to benefit from OPPD products and services
What Success Looks Like In This Role

- Help resolve technical, scheduling, or contractual issues
Schedule & Work Environment
This role includes both office and customer-facing work and may involve visiting customer facilities
within the OPPD service territory.
Because the Account Manager serves as a key customer contact, the position may occasionally require
responding to customer needs outside of normal business hours, particularly during service events or
outages.

- Bachelor degree in business, management, engineering or related field; or 10 years relevant utility experience.
- Three (3) years of customer account management or electric utility experience.
- Experience in sales, computing, financial analysis, customer relationship development, and project management.
- Comfortable with constructive conflict, possesses a willingness to challenge conventional thinking.
- Strong ability to get results though influence and relationships with internal and external partners.
- Superior communication skills and previous working experience independently leading a project in complexity and duration.
- Must possess a valid driver's license and provide personal vehicle for reimbursed business-related mileage.
- Master's degree in related field
- Electric utility experience
- Knowledge of electric distribution system design and components, construction procedures, electric rates and rate design principles, and energy technology and applications.
- Experience with specific OPPD computer system applications such as iCIS, Asset Suite, OMS, GTech, Byers, and Ratemaster.
- Previous experience with industrial or commercial processes and businesses principles.
- Negotiating skills acquired through selling and/or buying experience.
