Position Description JOB DESCRIPTION
Barrick is looking for exploration geology interns to engage in exploration projects in Quebec and Ontario during the 2026 summer field season (mid-May to late-August). The field focused assignment will support field mapping and geochemical programs of greenfield exploration project through various technical activities such as geological and structural mapping, map interpretation and field sampling and sample description, including bedrock sampling and till sampling. The ideal candidate will show commitment to health and safety and a desire for active field work in remote environments.
This role is a temporary position starting in mid May. Work will be completed on a rotation basis (approximately 21 days on, 10 days off) at one of Barrick’s field locations. Travel expenses to and from the project site will be paid for by Barrick. Lodging and meals will also be provided on the project site.
Role And Responsibilities
- Acting safely and responsibly in and around field programs and local communities.
- Assist with the collection of field data by various means.
- Assist with the compilation of field and other geological data.
- Help the team Geologists map and explore areas of interest.
- Obtaining field and bedrock samples under the guidance of the Geologist.
- Assist with the QAQC of field samples and support sample management and shipment at the project site.
- Contribute to project map and geological interpretations.
- Pursuing or completion of an undergraduate degree in Geology or Geological Engineering.
- Pursuit of a post graduate degree in Geology or Geological Engineering an asset.
- Work experience in a remote camp considered an asset.
- Has a keen interest in bedrock mapping, structural geology and ore deposit geology.
- Experience using GIS or database management considered an asset.
- Fluent in written and spoken English and French.
- Possess a valid driver license.
- Act as a safety champion and constantly apply the principals and spirit of Courageous Safety Leadership and Courage to Care
- A unique experience of high-level mapping in an industry context.
- Valuable experience of standard practices in gold exploration and its many related activities.
- Work in a dynamic, collaborative, progressive, and high-performing team.
- Apply and develop skills learned at university.
