Wind Technician III will lead troubleshooting, project scheduled maintenance, unscheduled maintenance, inspection, and operations on a U.S. wind site. Will lead and/or assist in large and small project corrective campaigns. Leads and mentors field crews, and ensures high standard of quality, health and safety, and technical ability to all project tasks. Assist project management in leadership tasks when necessary. This role requires deep wind industry experience and strong leadership skills.
- Diagnose and resolve complex turbine and equipment issues.
- Mentor and supervise junior and mid-level technicians.
- Ensure work is performed in accordance with all health, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Assist in coordination with technicians and site leadership to maintain project goals, schedules, and tracking.
- Communicate issues and solutions concisely to leadership.
- Participate in company and project health, safety and environmental, meetings, briefings and documentation requirements.
- Document accurately, all service activity including parts/materials consumption, detailed task explanations, and task start and stop times using digital reporting systems.
- Adheres to, supports, and enforces all company policies.
- Build and maintain positive relationships with clients, peers, and managers at the company and projects.
- Work with Inventory Control to make sure projects are supplied properly with parts and consumables
- Able to participate and respond in an On-Call 24/7/365 rotation schedule.
- Other duties as assigned by Supervisor- 3+ years of experience in wind turbine field service
- Vestas platform experience, LOTO, and certifications preferred (V100 & V110)
- Strong leadership, communication, and technical skills
- Strong understanding of wind turbine systems and safety protocols.
- Comfortable climbing to and working at heights, confined spaces, and in outdoor environments
- Able to work on call for site coverage
- Valid driver’s license and good driving record
- Willingness to travel from time to time for training or to assist on other projects.
- Willingness to train and mentor other employees.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.
- Must pass a background check, MVR, and drug test.
This role requires regular work at heights, confined spaces, physical stamina, and the ability to work a rotational on call schedule. Applicants must adhere to site safety practices and perform in variable outdoor environments.
As needed for training and to assist on other projects if necessary.
