Second Shift: Monday - Friday, 2:30pm – 11:00pm
MTW Industries is seeking a Welder/Fabricator/Production Team Leader with a very diverse skill set to lead and work alongside our second shift Production Team.
The successful applicant will be motivated, hard-working, and highly skilled in welding, fabricating, and other production shop work-centers, such as plasma and press brake. They will be a self-starter who also possesses the skills needed to intersperse leadership functions with physical labor duties. Excellent attendance and a drive to succeed are essential.
This highly skilled individual will join the other members of the MTW family on second shift working in our fast-paced, high-demand, temperature-controlled industrial facility. This is a collaborative role so this person will work alongside the rest of the team for the majority of their shift, while leading by example. The remainder of their time will be spent on team/skill-development, paperwork, and other supervisory functions.
Welder/Fabricator/Production Team Leaders have a wide variety of responsibilities, including excellent quality welds, inventive fabrication, and diligent work performance. The ability to work to exact design specifications, deadlines, and follow written and verbal instructions is key. They must be able to read drawings and utilize excellent math skills. In addition to being an accomplished welder/fabricator, they must be able to perform administrative tasks, lead by example, and oversee a team of skilled individuals.
At MTW, our lead people are working leaders, who perform physical work directly alongside the production team(s) on a daily basis. They actively perform a variety of industrial machine shop tasks including, but not limited to, welding/fabricating, material handling, grinding, machine operation/set-up/repair, and many other integral tasks. The successful candidate will be a proficient multitasker who is able to optimize all aspects the position requires.
The Welder/Fabricator Production Team Lead will provide guidance and support, perform analyses, and accomplish predetermined goals and quality expectations. They maintain responsibility for work performed, therefore must be very detail oriented, able to problem solve, set an exemplary example to other team members, perform physical work, and communicate effectively with a variety of individuals.
· Perform essential, physically demanding functions in an industrial manufacturing environment
· Expert level welding, fabrication, and assembly of parts to exact requirements
· Set-up, inspection, and maintenance of weld equipment
· Application of appropriate welding techniques, per industry standards
· Ability to work independently, and produce a meticulous product in a timely manner
· Minute evaluation of finished product(s), ability to perform any necessary weld/other improvements
· Perform material handling, packaging, and inventory functions as needed
· Provide assistance with other shop duties as needed, applying independent observation skills
· Maintain clean and safe workstation(s), tools, equipment, facility – utilize 5S/6S guidelines
· Assist in creating new, and adhere to/administer existing company policies and procedures
· Proven success as a team leader or supervisor with progressive responsibility in a lead role
· Aptitude for multitasking and effective prioritization in a fast-paced setting with limited direction
· Ability to interact with, lead, and take direction from various sources in a professional and courteous manner
· Demonstrate keen observation, awareness, focus, concentration, intellect, and attention throughout all tasks
· Education Preferred: High School Diploma or equivalent
· 2 or more years supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment
· 5 or more years welding/fabrication work experience
· Comprehensive welding experience/knowledge (MIG welding experience desired)
· All candidates must pass a welding test, pre-employment drug test, background check, and physical
- attendance, positive attitude, and strong work ethic
- math skills, ability to read drawings/prints, and familiarity with weld symbols
· Strong desire for continued growth and learning
· Knowledge/utilization of safe work habits and operation of safety equipment
o Operate forklifts and overhead crane (MTW will provide training if needed)
o Read and accurately use a tape measure, rule, and square
o Use other tools such as: grinder, torch, plasma
o Troubleshoot fit, quality, or other potential concerns
· Experience with plasma machine and press brake operation and CNC controls preferred
· Familiarity with laser machines and programing is a plus
