We are seeking a technically capable and client-minded engineer or technologist to help expand the adoption of our proprietary RSL Membrane Technology — the core water treatment solution we offer. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in water treatment, chemistry, and membrane systems, along with the interpersonal skill and courage to engage directly with clients and solve complex challenges. You’ll be mentored by experienced staff and supported as you grow into a more client-facing and commercially aware role.
Because we are a tight-knit team of 7, you’ll also be expected to step in and assist across various parts of the business when needed. Flexibility and initiative are essential.
This position combines water treatment plant design, leading R&D projects, technical documentation, and supporting field operations when needed as a Water Treatment Specialist, offering a unique opportunity to grow into a hybrid technical-business role within a fast-moving, specialized water treatment company.
Core Responsibilities:
•Present and support the sale of our RSL Membrane water treatment solution, including live demonstrations, technical presentations, and proposal development
•Collaborate directly with clients to understand their water treatment needs and translate them into viable RSL Membrane system designs
•Analyze client water data and recommend treatment configurations based on chemistry, membrane performance, and system design principles
•Prepare customized process designs, including PFDs, system configurations, and component selections for proposals and implementations
•Help produce high-quality technical documentation, including:
•Operation and maintenance manuals
•Technical white papers and case studies to support marketing and education
•Lead internal R&D projects, including lab or field testing, product performance evaluations, and reporting
•Contribute to internal process improvements by documenting field learnings, suggesting design optimizations, and sharing insights with the team
•Assist with commissioning and operator training during system startups
•Travel approximately 25% of the time internationally, with trips typically ranging from 1 to 3 weeks at a time, to support a range of activities including client meetings, technical conferences, water testing, field operations, R&D projects, and training — a great fit for those looking to use their technical skills to see more of the world
Technical Strengths We're Looking For:
•Experience in water treatment process design
•Strong understanding of water chemistry, filtration, and physical-chemical treatment processes
•Experience designing or working with ultrafiltration (UF) membrane systems, particularly membrane-based solutions like RSL membranes
•Ability to read and develop mechanical layouts, PFDs, and instrumentation/control logic
•Competence in troubleshooting performance issues and communicating findings clearly
•Interest in leading R&D and field-based problem solving
Who You Are:
•Confident explaining technical concepts to clients and peers
•Curious, coachable, and eager to take on more responsibility over time
•Self-driven, detail-oriented, and proactive in follow-through
•Comfortable with international travel (~25%), including both short and multi-week field assignments
•Excited to be part of a collaborative, hands-on technology company
Qualifications:
•Degree or CET in Chemical Engineering, preferred Masters Degree in Chemical Engineering specializing in water treatment- strong practical experience is equally valued
•3+ years of engineering work experience related to water treatment or membrane systems preferred
•Strong skills in communication and technical documentation
