# Water Operator In Training – Exciting Career Opportunity
Join EPCOR as a full‑time, permanent Water Operator in Training at our largest surface water treatment plant in Arizona, located in Surprise, AZ. In this hands‑on role, you’ll have the opportunity to learn and grow while building a long‑term career in the water industry. You’ll work in a state‑of‑the‑art treatment facility, gaining experience in plant operations, process control, sampling, and lab work. You’ll also help ensure water meets county, state, and EPA quality standards, operate telemetry systems, learn chemical feed adjustments, and receive full training and certification support to help you advance in your career.
- Perform daily plant operations and monitor equipment.
- Conduct water quality tests and chemical feed calculations.
- Troubleshoot operational issues.
- Use computer systems for reporting and monitoring.
- Read meters, gauges, charts, and technical plans.
- Complete assignments independently.
- Prioritize tasks and perform hands‑on operational work.
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Valid driver’s license, Class D.
- Interest or knowledge in water treatment and distribution.
- Understanding of equipment safety practices.
- Ability to perform arithmetic calculations.
- Ability to read meters, gauges, and plans.
- Experience with hand and power tools.
- Computer and data software experience.
- Must be able to obtain ADEQ Water Treatment Grade 1 certification within 1 year of hire.
- Ability to work in extreme outdoor heat and around chemicals.
- Job includes working rotating shifts, callbacks, overtime, and on‑call duty.
