Young-Davidsonis a low-cost, long-life operation and one of Canada’s largest underground gold mines. It is located near the town of Matachewan centrally located between Timmins, Kirkland Lake, North Bay and Sudbury, Ontario. The 2020 completion of a highly automated, lower mine expansion has resulted in Young-Davidson increasing production and generating strong free cash flow. With a large Mineral Reserve base, it will serve as Alamos’ foundation for growth for many years to come. Reporting to the Manager, Supply Chain, the successful candidate will be responsible to co-manage Warehouse operations including personnel and their overall performance, maintain accurate inventory levels and provide a safe work environment. To ensure that safety regulations are met and to liaise with customers and suppliers.
Primary Responsibilities

- Provide Supervisor relief coverage for Yard & Underground Warehouse (e.g. 4/3 schedule, vacation, sick days, etc.);
- Manage Warehouse One operations and systematically report on productivity, inventory levels and the quality and safety of storage facilities;
- Maintain Warehouse One facility and remote seacan/laydown areas for parts, supplies and materials inventory; monitor expenditures and budgets;
- Ensure Warehouse One storage facilities meet health and safety regulations and company standards;
- Ensure Warehouse One personnel follow required government legislation and company policies;
- Ensure hazardous materials chemicals and gases are stored safely and properly;
- Liaise and consult with the appropriate department personnel in relation to parts, supplies and materials, both new and existing, prior to ordering and storing;
- Communicate and update policies, procedures and budgets as required for effective Warehouse operations;
- Maintain and update material data sheets as required, staffing schedules, maintenance schedules and month end inventory and supply reports;
- Review all reports for discrepancies and trends and rectify outstanding items or escalate them to senior management; and
- Comply with audit requests/requirements, internal and external.
Manage the maintenance and use of the Supply System, including the preparation and analysis of reports.
- Ensure MRP requisitions for Warehouse One are released in a timely manner, review material costs and manage inventory; and
- Review data to identify inefficiencies, enhance productivity and ensure supplies are replenished to avoid disruptions to mine operations.
Coordinate integrated activities between the Warehouse and other departments
- Develop plans to ensure parts, supplies and materials are available for major shutdowns and maintenance projects;
- Liase with the Maintenance department and others as required on material usage and turnover to ensure inventory holdings are adequate;
- Provide prompt information on the availability of hard to acquire materials, especially overseas orders; and
- Assist the Supply Chain management team in the execution of procurement strategies and company objectives.
- Manage a team of Warehouse One staff, ensure adequate staff coverage is available for the parts counter, including coverage for receiving, picking parts, posting Reservations and regular surface and underground schedules;
- Coordinate on-call staff scheduling with Yard & Underground Warehouse Supervisor to provide after-hours or emergency coverage;
- Ensure the Warehouse One personnel proactively monitor, investigates and resolves issues in a way that minimizes disruption to mine operations;
- Investigate, delegate, and rectify regular queries, problems, and other issues;
- Provide employees with clear work objectives and expectations of the performance levels required;
- Ensure the training is provided in accordance with the future needs of direct reports;
- Conduct performance reviews and provide feedback to direct reports;
- Complete any required time entry, vacation requests and schedules; and
- Promote and maintain a high-performance culture.
- Technical training or certification or Diploma of Collegial Studies;
- 5-8 years of related experience;
- Minimum 3 years of experience in supervisory roles;
- Self-starter who is able to anticipate needs and work independently with minimal supervision;
- Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail, able to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced, growing work environment;
- The individual should have demonstrated a high level of energy, self motivation and strong organizational skills;
- Excellent inter-personal skills together with an ability to facilitate commitment to a cooperative team effort;
- Good communication skills, both orally and written with both internal and external contacts and the ability to work with all levels of the organization;
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs is required; and
- SAP experience considered an asset.
Schedule
: 5 days on, 2 days off
OR4 days on, 3 days off.
