The Warehouse Manager oversees all daily operations of ASUC’s Shelby warehouse, ensuring efficient, safe, and accurate movement of materials from receiving through final shipment. This role requires a hands-on leader with strong logistics knowledge, the ability to manage multiple priorities, and a commitment to excellence in service, safety, and performance.
The ideal candidate has extensive experience in warehouse environments and proven success managing teams in high-volume distribution settings. Familiarity with electrical utility products, testing lab processes, and third-party shipping logistics (FedEx, UPS, LTL, and freight carriers) is highly preferred. - Direct all daily warehouse activities including receiving, stocking, organizing, picking, staging, packaging, and shipping.
- Supervise and mentor warehouse staff; build a motivated, safety-minded, and high-performing team.
- Plan and assign work schedules based on order volume, truck schedules, and manpower.
- Oversee outbound logistics — ensure timely, accurate shipments using FedEx, UPS, LTL carriers, and dedicated freight.
- Ensure all inbound deliveries are checked, received, and properly documented.
- Coordinate closely with the purchasing and sales departments to maintain real-time visibility of order status.
- Collaborate with corporate leadership to scale warehouse operations as business growth continues.
- Maintain inventory accuracy through daily cycle counts, audits, and system updates in ASUC’s ERP system.
- Monitor product locations and warehouse organization for efficiency and space optimization.
- Investigate and resolve discrepancies or damages in receiving and shipping.
- Support process improvements and implement best practices for materials handling and inventory tracking.
- Enforce OSHA regulations and ASUC’s internal safety protocols; ensure all team members are properly trained.
- Conduct regular inspections of warehouse equipment, vehicles, and facilities.
- Maintain clean, organized, and hazard-free working conditions at all times.
- Support compliance with testing lab requirements and proper storage of certified PPE and electrical safety equipment.
- Manage relationships with carriers and negotiate rates and pickups as needed.
- Track freight performance and resolve delivery or claim issues quickly.
- Coordinate large customer shipments and project-based orders requiring special handling or timing.
- Help implement warehouse layout improvements and automation as operations expand.- 10+ years of warehouse or logistics experience (distribution, shipping/receiving, or fulfillment).
- 2–3 years of warehouse management or supervisory experience required.
- Preferable knowledge of the electrical utility industry or experience with industrial/safety equipment.
- Strong leadership and communication skills with a hands-on management style.
- Familiarity with ERP systems and shipping platforms (FedEx Ship Manager, UPS WorldShip, LTL portals, etc.).
- Excellent organizational, time-management, and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and operate warehouse equipment (forklifts, pallet jacks, etc.).
- OSHA safety certification or willingness to obtain preferred.
