Superior Plus Corp is seeking an enterprise-minded Vice President of North American Procurement to architect and lead a high-impact procurement function across the organization. This role is ideal for a transformational leader who thrives in building functions from the ground up, driving innovation, and maximizing value through strategic sourcing and operational excellence. The VP of North American Procurement will oversee all indirect (excludes propane, heating oil and other commodities for resale) purchasing processes, enhance strategic category management, and drive value through centralized and consolidated procurement efforts. This role requires extensive coordination with various departments to ensure efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and quality of procurement practices.
What you'll do:
Functional leadership
•Develop and implement a comprehensive procurement strategy that supports the company’s business objectives and maximizes value.
•Build and manage a high-performing procurement team, fostering a culture of collaboration and excellence.
•Establish and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers to ensure quality, innovation, and cost-effectiveness.
•Establish procurement as a strategic enabler across the enterprise, aligning closely with Finance, Operations, and other key functions.
•Champion a culture of continuous improvement, data-driven decision-making, and ethical sourcing.
Purchasing consolidation and management
•Partner with relevant business teams to understand and manage internal demand for goods and services; e.g., improving demand forecasting and rationalizing stock keeping unit (SKUs) /specs.
•Lead enterprise-wide initiatives to consolidate purchasing power and optimize supplier relationships across business units.
•Manage strategic supplier relationships to ensure compliance, quality, and performance while achieving cost reductions.
•Monitor market trends and assess supplier performance to drive continuous improvement in procurement practices.
Category strategy development
•Identify and prioritize spending categories based on spend analysis, business impact, and strategic importance.
•Create and implement category management strategies for major spend areas to optimize cost, ensure supply continuity, and leverage Superior’s scale.
Procurement process standardization and oversight
•Design, deploy, and enforce standardized purchasing processes across the organization to enhance operational control and workflow efficiency.
•Establish and maintain a spend management system to enforce use of preferred. vendors/SKUs, automate approval workflows, and capture detailed purchasing data for analysis.
•Select and implement procurement technologies that enable automation, transparency, and real-time analytics.
What you bring:
•Bachelor’s degree in business, supply chain management, or a related field; MBA preferred.
•Minimum of 10 years of experience in procurement, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
•Proven track record of successfully developing and implementing procurement strategies that drive business growth and efficiency.
•Experience in building or transforming a procurement function at the enterprise level.
•Strong executive presence with the ability to influence C-suite stakeholders, as well as the ability to roll up your sleeves and operate at a functional level, driving cross-functional alignment.
•Track record of delivering measurable value through procurement transformation, including cost savings, risk mitigation, and supplier innovation.
•Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
•Proficiency in spend management technologies to support enterprise-wide procurement activities.
•Data analytics capabilities to assess spending data and identify potential optimization opportunities.
•Ability to collaborate and influence cross-functionally in partnering with business teams to manage demand.
•Experience in managing a distributed procurement function is highly desirable.
•Knowledge of procurement software and tools.
•Commitment to ethical sourcing and sustainability practices.
