KLE is seeking QA/QC Inspection Technicians to support NYSEG and RG&E inspection and stray voltage programs. The primary responsibility of this role is to independently verify contractor inspection results and ensure compliance with NYS DPS safety standards (Case 04-M-0159).
Technicians will perform field re-inspections of a sample of previously inspected assets, conduct stray voltage testing, and verify the accuracy of reported deficiencies and completed repairs. This work is performed independently, without prior access to original inspection results. Findings will be documented, compared against contractor-reported data, and any discrepancies will be identified and reported.
· Perform independent QA/QC field audits of completed utility inspections
· Perform or assist with stray voltage testing on designated structures
· Utilize circuit maps and field documentation to locate and inspect assigned structures
· Re-inspect utility poles and associated equipment to verify reported conditions
· Validate priority classifications (Level 1, 2, and 3 deficiencies)
· Identify safety concerns, missed defects, and inconsistencies in inspection data
· Compare field findings against contractor inspection reports and documentation
· Record findings accurately using paper based or client provided documentation systems
· Support verification of completed repair work through field checks
· Assist with QA/QC reporting and regulatory compliance requirements
· Maintain professional communication with internal teams and field personnel
· Follow all safety protocols and field procedures during inspections
This role requires travel within NYSEG and RG&E service territories.
· Minimum 1 year of utility, field inspection, or related experience
· Basic understanding of electric distribution systems preferred
· Ability to identify pole defects and equipment issues
· Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
· Working knowledge of computers and software applications
· Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
· Ability to pass a pre-employment drug test and background check
· Ability to work independently or as part of a team
· Utility inspection or QA/QC experience (electric distribution preferred)
· Ability to read and interpret circuit maps and field data
· Background in field data collection or utility construction/maintenance
· Prior experience with NYSEG or similar utility companies
· Retired or former line workers, inspectors, or utility field personnel are strongly encouraged to apply
· Knowledge of local service territories, circuits, and utility standards is a plus
