Description:

Under the direction of the Department Manager, the Ticket Writer ensures the production of company products at the highest quality and at the lowest possible cost, meeting company policies and procedures. The Ticket Writer will act in a manner that is consistent with Gordon Aluminum’s Customer 1st Philosophy.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

This list of duties and responsibilities is not all-inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities, as management may deem necessary from time to time.

The general purpose of the Ticket Writer is to prepare, create, organize, file, and distribute all shipping related documents.

- Create packing slips and complete BOC’s.

- Write up scrap trailer documentation.

- Coordinate shipping schedules with drivers as needed.

- Arrange LTL shipments.

- Create, organize, and file internal documentation.

- Communicate externally as needed with drives and dispatchers.

In addition to the essential duties and responsibilities listed above, all positions are also responsible for:

- Performing all work-related tasks in a manner that is in compliance with all Federal, State, and local standards and regulations.

- Adhering to Company policies, procedures, and directives regarding safety and standards of workplace behavior, in completing job duties and assignments


Requirements:


Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.


Education and/or Experience

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or equivalent combination of education and experience.3 to 6 months of related experience or training.


Mathematical Skills

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.


Language Skills

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.


Reasoning Ability

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.


Physical Demands

Physical Demands refers to the level and/or duration of physical exertion generally required to perform occupational takes (sitting, standing, walking, lifting, carrying, reaching, pushing and pulling).

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, use hands to handle or feel, talk and hear. Perform repetitive motion of fingers, hands, wrists, shoulders and upper body. The employee if regularly required to reach with hands and arms. On occasion the employee may be required to sit, stoop, kneel, couch and crawl.

The employee must occasionally lift up 10 to 50 pounds.

Specific vision abilities required for this position include close vision (clear vision at 20 inches or less), distance vision (clear vision at 20 feet or more), color vision (ability to identify and distinguish colors), Peripheral vision (ability to observe an area that can be seen up and down or to the left and right while eyes are fixed on a given point), depth perception (three-dimensional vision, ability to judge distances and spatial relationships), and ability to adjust focus (ability to adjust the eye to bring an object into sharp focus).


Work Environment

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly exposed to work near moving mechanical parts. Occasionally the employee will be exposed to wet or humid conditions (non-weather), and fumes or airborne particles.

The noise level in typically loud in this work environment. Hearing protection is required.

Employee is expected to wear the required personal protective equipment when on the production floor.
