Rainy River Mine
Situated in beautiful northwestern Ontario, 65 km northwest of Fort Frances, the Rainy River Mine is an open pit and underground, gold and silver producing, residential mine site.
The Rainy River Mine, located adjacent to the Ontario / Minnesota border is 65 Kilometers northwest of Fort Frances, Ontario and is situated half way between Winnipeg, Manitoba and Thunder Bay, Ontario. The area is home to more than 130 species of birds and large populations of moose, black bear and deer. About The Role
Schedule: 14/14 (Camp and Travel)
Reports To: Underground Mine Superintendent
Reporting to the Underground Mine Superintendent, the Project Controls Coordinator is responsible for executing project controls activities for two major underground contracts, an underground development and production contract, and a underground production drilling contract.
- Monitor and control total project costs, ensuring expenditures are accurately recorded and remain within approved budgets.
- Provide support to the operations team with the contractor daily timesheets, LEMS and delay claims.
- Provide planning and cost control support, including Estimate at Completion (EAC) management, change control, and progress measurement.
- Prepare weekly, monthly, and quarterly cost and progress reports, including variance analysis (actual vs. budget) and accruals for financial reporting.
- Manage cost coding for contracts, purchase orders, and change orders.
- Administer the contractor Progress Payment Certificate (PPC) process, verifying accuracy and completeness of supporting documentation.
- Establish and maintain robust tracking systems and controls to validate costs, manage contract details, and support data-driven decision-making.
- Review, defend, and negotiate contractor claims using contract knowledge, cost data, and underground operational insight.
- Collaborate with the Project Management team and Major Capital Controls group to resolve issues and ensure contract compliance and scope delivery.
- Maintain thorough knowledge of contract terms and hold contractors accountable to performance, schedule, and cost commitments.
- Maintain an active site presence on a 14x14 FIFO schedule, including regular underground engagement to monitor progress and validate work in place.
- Minimum 5 years’ project controls experience preferably in an underground environment.
- University degree or technical college diploma in finance or mining engineering is an asset.
- Knowledge and experience in SAP is an asset.
- Primavera P6 experience is considered an asset.
- Proficient in Microsoft applications (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook).
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong time management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities.
- Analytical thinking and problem-solving skills. with the ability to work well in a team environment.
The anticipated salary range for this position will be between $90,500,000.00 -$125,000.00
