Turbine TIG Welder & Component Repair Specialist

What a day looks like

You clock in, review work orders for turbine and generator components, and set up for precision TIG weld repairs. You’ll disassemble assemblies, inspect parts with precision measurement tools, and map out repair sequences from technical drawings. After prep and blending work—often including media blasting—you execute controlled welds to restore delicate components with minimal distortion. Throughout the day, you coordinate with job site managers, move work safely using forklifts and overhead cranes, and keep the shop organized and clean. When needed, you jump in to support other teams to keep jobs moving.

Core responsibilities

- Perform precision TIG weld repairs and manufacture/restore turbine-generator components; also perform MIG and stick welding as needed.

- Disassemble and reassemble turbine/generator parts and subassemblies.

- Conduct visual and dimensional inspections using precision measurement equipment.

- Prep and blend components, including media blasting and deburring.

- Collaborate with job site managers to align on scope, priorities, and safety.

- Operate forklifts and cranes to stage and move work safely.

- Maintain a clean, orderly, and safe work environment; follow ARMS and customer safety protocols.

- Assist other areas of the shop when required.

Qualifications

- Minimum 1 year of relevant welding/repair experience preferred, ideally in power generation.

- Comfort reading and interpreting blueprints and technical specifications.

- Proven ability to weld delicate components with precision and minimal distortion.

- Capable of setting up and operating welding equipment.

- Knowledge of precision measurement tools and field measurement practices.

- Solid mechanical aptitude and problem-solving; able to anticipate changes and plan work efficiently.

- Clear written and verbal communication; strong organizational skills.

- Physically able to stand, walk, bend, reach, and lift for extended periods.

- Availability for significant mandatory overtime during peak demand periods.

- OSHA 10-Hour Certification (OSHA 10) preferred.

- Valid driver’s license.

Competencies we value
