Engineering Manufacturing Technologies (“EMT”) is a metal component manufacturer located near Binghamton, NY. Our manufacturing facility is over 130,000 sq. ft. and we employ over 125 personnel. EMT has been in business for over 70 years and our manufacturing processes include Punch Press Stampings, Sheet Metal Fabrications, and CNC Machining & Turned parts. EMT is known as a leader in our industry and our manufacturing facility houses the “most state of the art” equipment. Our continued growth in the automotive, aerospace, commercial/industrial, DOD, firearm, and pharmaceutical industries requires EMT to hire an experienced TIG/MIG Welder.
The person we hire will be experienced in producing weldment parts that are clean and precise. We are looking for a self-starter who has the ability to:
· Read and interpret drawings, blueprints, specifications, sketches and work orders to determine the specific welding requirements.
· TIG weld steel, aluminum and stainless-steel components based on the specifications of the blueprints and/or drawings.
· Examine workpieces for defects and measure workpieces to ensure conformance with specifications.
· Determine required equipment and welding methods, applying knowledge of metallurgy, geometry and welding techniques.
· Select and install torches, torch tips, filler rods, and flux according to welding chart specifications or types and thicknesses of metals.
· Prepare all material surfaces to be welded, ensuring that there is no loose or thick scale, slag, rust, moisture, grease or other foreign matter.
· Align and clamp workpieces together or position items in fixtures, jigs or vises.
· Monitor and adjust gas flow and pressure to maintain desired flames.
· Monitor the fitting, burning and welding processes to avoid overheating of parts or warping, shrinking, distortion or expansion of material.
· Grind, cut, buff or bend edges of workpieces to be joined to ensure snug fit.
· Keep work area clean and organized and maintain proper care of all equipment.
· Communicate with the team and other departments as required to improve production processes.
We are seeking an individual who is a welding visionary and has the drive and ability to get the job done! If you are the person we are looking for you will enjoy:
· Associates degree in Welding or a Welder certificate and three (3) years of welding/fabrication experience or equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
· Competent in reading and following instructions from CAD drawings.
· Must pass EMT welder performance qualification test.
· Strong problem-solving skills to identify, rectify and communicate inaccuracies.
