Responsible to: MANAGER OF TRAINING AND COMPLIANCE
Position Summary: The Transportation Safety Coordinator supports the Manager of Training and Compliance in monitoring, analyzing, and improving the safety and compliance performance of the company’s transportation fleet. This position plays a vital role in ensuring driver accountability, regulatory adherence, and operational safety by utilizing truck telematics data, GPS tracking, speed reports, camera footage, and harsh event notifications.
Data Analysis & Reporting:
Monitor and analyze telematics data (e.g., Samsara), including GPS, speed, idling, and harsh driving events.
Compile and distribute regular safety reports to stakeholders.
Review camera footage related to incidents, violations, or unsafe behavior.
Generate reports highlighting trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
Safety & Compliance Support:
Assist in ensuring the fleet meets all federal, state, and company safety regulations.
Collaborate with the operations team to identify and implement corrective actions following safety incidents or violations.
Track and document safety infractions and resolution timelines.
Support the management of driver hours of service and DOT logs.
Collaboration & Communication:
Work closely with the People Operations and Safety departments to align safety practices across teams.
Participate in safety meetings, incident reviews, and compliance audits.
Communicate findings and recommendations clearly to both drivers and management.
Technical Skills:
Maintain proficiency with Samsara or similar fleet management platforms.
Assist in troubleshooting or training related to telematics and compliance systems.
High school diploma or GED required; associate’s or bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred.
2+ years of experience in fleet safety, compliance, or transportation operations preferred.Experience using fleet telematics systems such as Samsara is strongly preferred.
Strong reporting, analytical, and organizational skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively across departments.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and other reporting tools.
