Title Abstractor

Ohio Valley Land Services is hiring contract Title Abstractors to support oil and gas, mineral rights, and surface land projects across the Appalachian Basin. The role focuses on Ohio, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, and Kentucky.

Compensation is $275 to $350 per day based on experience and work product.

Day to day involves running chain of title, pulling deeds and tax records from county courthouses and online portals (CountyFusion, KOFile, county recorder sites), preparing runsheets, identifying mineral and surface ownership, flagging title defects, and supporting curative work for our project managers and clients.

Looking for someone with hands-on title experience in the Appalachian Basin, comfortable with both digital and physical courthouse research, and able to work independently on production-paced projects.

Requirements:

• Strong understanding of mineral and surface ownership in OH, PA, WV, or KY
• Familiarity with CountyFusion, KOFile, or similar online recording portals
• Comfortable with Excel and PDF document handling
• Detail-oriented, deadline-driven, and able to manage multiple projects

Preferred:

• AAPL membership or RL/RPL/CPL certification
• Experience with curative work and title opinions
• GIS or mapping software experience
• Familiarity with Marcellus and Utica shale plays

This is a 1099 contract position. Work product and pace determine your daily rate within the posted range. Office or remote arrangements available depending on project needs.
